Still procrastinating about which driver set will replace my vanilla 65.73s in order to play HL2... seen the zeropoint modded drivers getting good reviews here and there, but haven't seen much about them on this forum. Anyone care to give some input, specifically pros/cons vs XG drivers.

Cheers.

Nice, but many modded teams enters the scene of the high-end vid cards, like all the drivers been out there, best solution could be, join the venture of another mod team and boomed the drivers all the way up :D

Geta grip on the NVnews road and tell all of us what really been tuned and tweaked inside them....

i have been running them since release. very stable, awsome iq, & very good performance.

Great stuff Mike - out of interest, do they have the bug where the screen momentarily goes black/blank when you right click the desktop and access the nvidia properties menu (or via icon in system tray)? Had that on 66.77, which is why I quickly ditched them.

Thanks.

know what you are talking about. that little quirk was in a couple of releases. did not hurt anything, just slightly annoying.;)
anyway the awnser would be no. just went & checked it out again to make sure, no problems.

do these have the temp bug still?

idoru, in my experience that black flashing was only when my primary display was connected to the DVI port. if you switch it over to the VGA, it will probably go away.

yes the 7184 has the 'temp  problem'.
nvidia is way overdue on fixing this.

I have tried the 71.84,XG 71.84,76.10 and NGO 76.10 and none of these have the black screen when you right click and go to nvidia properties.

I tried installing these with some game fixes. I noticed it uses shader model 1.1 for farcry.. instead of 3. I don't know why but I don't get the same first shot gun lag or turning on goggles lag. There's still a tiny bit but not like before.

in reference to what? are you saying you get less lag with the zp or the other way around?

I believe it's a shader model problem. All drivers use the newest 3.0 path. But for some reason when I installed zeropoint, it set Far cry to use shader model 1.1 and when I do that I don't get lag.

EDIT: I just reinstalled the drivers fresh and it's still shader model 3. I don't know how it switched before or whether the drivers did it but I'm back where I started.

To swtich shader models, turn lighting quality down from VH to H. You can notice the diff just by turning goggles on for the first time.

OK, having briefly tried and dumped 67.66, 67.66 XG and 71.84 XG, I've taken the plunge with the Zeropoint 71.84... initial impressions are favourable, IQ certainly seems better than the other three mentioned. Temp bug present needless to say, but have OC'd to 403 core which solved it. I'll post re any issues if/as they arise. Thanks to everyone for their input.

in case you did not know, you only need to oc 1 to 'fix' the idiotic temp bug.
if you decide for whatever reason to go go back to 6766, zp has a kickass vers of that too. ;)

Thanks Mike - it's at 403 because that is the lowest overclock I can do via the rather unresponsive/imprecise sliders on the controlo panel  I have an Ultra, so it is an insignificant o/c in any case.
