Bad news for consumers as it appears upcoming dual core 8xx CPUs will not work on existing motherboards based on Intel's own 925 and 915 chipsets.

No suprize here, If you look at intels previous processors etc you will find that its quite a theme for intel.
Could this have to do with the fact that they supply the motherboards and the cpu's? You decide!

makes sense... force people to buy an intel mobo, and intel CPU
or for me, not upgrade. ha

AMD has always been more user friendly.... but INTEL has the worlds best marketing. :)

This is a big reason I'm going amd this round.
I can pickup a mobo for under a 100 bucks
and use amd's dual core. :)
For now I think a 3000+ clocked at 3800+ speeds
will do just fine. :)
So this is great, we have to wait for the chip release and then wait for decent boards to use those chips.

The whole "second quarter third quarter" bit makes it a serious pain to upgrade.
