I have a 5800 Ultra and am using the 66.93 WHQL drivers. Before I go for the new drivers, is anyone using the 5800 Ultra with the 71.84 WHQL drivers?

I am basically wondering if the fan spins up and down as it should and hope it doesn't stay in turbine mode.

Can anybody share their experiences with this combo??

I'm going to try it shortly, as my tv out cable isn't compatible with my 6800 and gives me b & w, so I'll be kicking down to my 5800U for a bit while I wait for a new cable... I'll let ya know... For what it's worth, 66.93, 71.20, and 76.10 all ran the fan fine, so I'm thinking this WHQL driver will probably operate correctly as well.

If this is any help, the XG 71.84 driver is running flawlessly on my FX5900.

Well I installed the 71.84 WHQL, and when I am done playing games, the highspeed of th fan never quiets down. It stays in high-speed mode forever until I restart.

For you people using it without problems, do you have coolbits enabled? I have Coolbits=ffffffffff as my reg entry. I don't know why, but I just thought Coolbits might affect it.

i haven't had any issues with the fan, it stops properly after the game quits as usual.

I dont use coolbits, i exclusively use Rivatuner to overclock and all that ****. After experimenting with drivers for this card a while ago, and dealing with the fan quiting out and 3d low-power mode taking over, i always just use rivatuner and everything works fine.

Well mine seems to be working fairly ok since I changed frm coolbits=ffffffffff to coolbits=3. I have noticed though that it still comes on when I open certain programs like Limewire and Windows Media Player.

Anyways, does the temp bug that exists in these drivers for 6800 series of cards also exist in the 5800 Ultra?
