fx-55 proc temps

hi all im running an fx55 proc @2.61 and i am hitting temps of 70oc seventy wtf thats too hot...i am running...

gigabyte ga-k8nxp-sli mobo
fx55 proc @2.61 with 3drocket pro pcu22-vg heatsink
2 gigs corsair xms extreme low latency @ 2-2-2-5
dual 6800 ultras running in sli config mode
2x 160 gb western digital serial ata hdds no raid config (yet)
2x mad dog dual layer combo drives
audigy 2 zs platinum sound card
thermal take xaser III full tower with 7 internal fans
pc power and cooling SLi/nvidia approved 510w-650w powersupply

with all this would any one suggest at these tems ...because i havent even started to over clock anythig yet..lol...that i need to go liquid cooled now ...i dont plan on over clocking for a while yet though...i am more concerned about the now..with proc core temp of 70oc ...need advice here ...why am i running so hot?

Try another cooler maybe? I've heard that the 3d rocket is..hmm, not so good. :) You sure the temp sensor on the mobo is ok btw? And what temp monitor prog are you using?

My FX-55 OC'd@2.8 gets ~50C full load. The XP-120 is huge though. :D

I would re-apply thermal compound (Artic Silver) preferably, and re-seat the heatsink/fan. My first attempt with my fx-55 produced higher than I liked temps. After re-installing my 120mm fan my avg. idle/load was 40/55. Still not happy I went for water cooling :)

I use the stock FX cooler and I'm getting 36 idle, 50 load......HOWEVER I was getting 41 idle, 55 load with my geforce 6800 Ultra inside my case. My point is, you have a very hot configuration and the ambient air is guaranteed to be blazing hot. Try ventilating your case a bit more and you may see some direct benefit like I had.

my proc at full load is now @ tems exceeding 200 degrees ferinheight ...thats not good..lol..going back to stock cooler...

I had a similar problem with my fx-55 but my idle temp was 50c and under a 100% load it would hit 62c. That was way to hot for me so I went and bought a Thermalright xp-120 and used artic silver.

Now my idle temp is 38c and I haven't seen it go over 43c under a load. I have it at stock speeds so I'm much happier with those temps.
