Which processor would be noticably faster in games? A P4 2.0 northwood with 512k but 400fsb, or a Celeron D 2.66 533fsb but only 256k cache. I don't have a board to OC so oc is out of the question.

Without question the Celeron D.. unless you overclocked the 2.0A to 2.66 giving it a 533MHz bus, which is quite easy with those chips.

Depends on if you want to overclock or not.

edit: just noticed the last part of your post.. so yeah, Celeron D it is.

If going to a AMD upgrade is out of the question ,then the CeleronD 2.66 will be faster then the P4 2.0gig since you cannot overclock.

Hmmm.. hard to say, the extra cache makes a big difference on that CPU. If you can pick up a 533fsb 2.8ghz P4 or so, I think that would be your best option.

are these the only options u have.. rather spend some more money, get some thing bettter..2.4c or something...or move to the amd athlonxp lane..they are pretty good too. even the a64 754pin 2800+ is very cheap at the moment.

Celery- yuck. Don't touch it with a 10 foot pole, unless you're an octagenarian.

You must be thinking of the old Celeron. The new ones are MUCH better, as in much much better. The old celly's would be like celly 2.8 as slow as athlon xp 1800+ in games. The Celly D is much better. It's on prescott core, double the cache and 533fsb. Without a question the celly 2.66d is a better proc.

Yes the new Celerons are very impressive. 256K L2, with a 533FSB. Much better than Sempron's.
