I thought I would share my experience with the Thermalright XP-120 with everyone. When I bought my Athlon FX-55 and put the stock cooler on it, my monitoring caused me some alarm. At idle, I was running at 50 c and under a load I was running at 58 c. Although that is within tolerances it was to hot for me.

After I installed the XP-120, I immeditely noticed a 12 c drop in my idle temperature and under a load it went to 43 c. This would give quite a bit of room for overclocking but my goal was a cooler running CPU since heat is it's worst enemy, I'm very happy with a 43 c operating temperature under load.

I would highly recommend this heat sink to any looking to cool off their CPU.

Glad to hear about your good results. I'm not surprised, the XP-90 and XP-120 are excellent coolers. It's worth mentioning that the XP-120 will not fit in some motherboards so double-check on that before purchasing. The XP-90 doesn't have any fitting issues that I'm aware of and now there is a solid copper model (XP-90C)..it weighs about twice as much as the aluminum XP-90 though. :)

Doesn't the Zalman 7000cu actually have more copper to it than the XP-90C?

Yes, the 7000cu is around 755g while the XP-90C is 690g...although that 690g is about twice as heavy as the 360g of the XP-90 aluminum. That's all I was getting at.

/me wonders how much an all Cu XP120 would weigh. :)

I put a 120mm Panaflo Ultra High Output (115cfm) fan on it. The fan works great and the only bad thing I can say about the fan is no rpm sensor. I have no idea how fast it is running but I really don't care as I am only interested in CPU temperature. It would be nice to have it and I may replace the fan when if I find one.

NVNEWS is suppose to receive a XP-90C by next week to review. Will probably use the P4 3.4E Prescott to test it and compare against the Prescott's HSF.
