PSP-Linux (http://www.psp-linux.org) - This looks interesting. If they can boot from a Memory stick and include web browsing, gAIM and a word processor (even emacs), I'm there. That is, if Sony doesn't do these items up first. I really would very much like to be able to use my PSP for a little bit more than gaming, music and movies.

It was decent I thought, I wish it had more to do with Desperado though instead of bringing all the new characters in.

The UMD Video selection isnt all that great so far, but I think Total Recall is coming to umd. If so, it will probaly be the first umd vid I pick up.
...but theres always the memory stick route for movies ;)

I'm getting the fever too. I'll get one as soon as I can sell enough plasma. :D

I changed the title of this thread a bit (borrowed your sig ascii art Bad_Boy) and made it a sticky. Let's try to keep all things Sony PSP-related in this one thread. Thanks!

No problem. I just learned of PSP411.com (http://www.psp411.com/) from that GIZMODO page. PSP411.com has some nice accessory and game reviews.

Pretty cool stuff, a lot of unknown accessories and games i didnt even know about yet. Though I think I'm going to wait for the logitech case.

Btw added NBA review, im kinda dissapointed in the score it got, i expected more from that title. ah well, ill probally rent it via gamefly one day just to try it out on my own.
http://www.gamefly.com/psp/

also, gamespy seems to be doing some good coverage for the psp for launch week.

Yeah that Logitech case looks to be very good. I like the trend so far with most accessories being very affordable. Even the UMDs look to be under $20 for the most part.

I wasn't aware of the USB power cable charging capability: http://www.psp411.com/show/review/93/0/USB_PSP_Recharge_cable_Hardware_review.html Now that is a must have.

Bad_Boy
03-22-05, 08:53 PM
Yeah, accessories are looking to be very well priced, minus a few, but overall prices do look good. I think I just might pick up that USB power cable and a car charger if my wallet allows :p

Added some 1UP.com reviews, though their reviews are not too much in high detail, I figured they should be up there, instead of just having Gamespot and IGN.

I don't think UDM video will ever catch on unless Sony releases a much wider range of titles.

Mr. Hunt
03-22-05, 08:59 PM
Of course they release a wider range of titles... this is just the first batch.

Bad_Boy
03-22-05, 09:04 PM
Yeah there is a bunch more titles that I did not list because AFAIK these are the first batch, as said above.

I'll try to get the other movies up there but I remember total recall, rambo, and saw being some of the titles coming to UMD video.

edit:
added on 1st post :)

heres a quote from another site
As for movies, count on support from Sony Pictures and Lion’s Gate Films for starters. Sony will release “XXX,” “Hellboy,” “House of Flying Daggers,” “Resident Evil 2” and “Once Upon a Time in Mexico” on Thursday. And Lion’s Gate has promised a dozen movies including “House of the Dead,” “Saw” and “Total Recall.” The first million PSPs sold in North America will come with copies of the movie “Spider-Man 2.”

Hmm, being able to convert your own videos and watching them on the PSP sounds pretty cool, it would be like a portable DVD player. How do you get data onto UMDs though? You'd think there would be a lot of copy protection that keeps you from running unsigned code...

Mr. Hunt
03-22-05, 09:07 PM
with the memory stick... it comes with a 32 meg but I will be buying a much bigger one (obviously because I want to put videos/songs on them).

I think they will, no one would ever expect there to be a ton of UMD movie titles available at launch. There are plenty in the pipeline though for as soon as this spring (http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=technologyNews&storyID=7925628&src=rss/technologyNews). Also, a number of titles we be available for < $15 (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0007VNGXK/psprumors-20/102-6040721-9008922?creative=327641&camp=14573&link_code=as1) which will definitely move some product if that pricing trend continues.
