I just bought an Asus Geforce 6800 ultra. When I run a default test in 3dMark03 I get 11500 3dmarks... Its just I thought that the Ultras would get a bit higher score like 13000+

My system:
AMD Athlon XP 3200+
1024 mb ram
Asus Gforce 6800 Ultra.

I have installed the 75.90 drivers...
is it possible to get some higher scores without overclocking the card?

6800Us should get 12000+ not 13000+ ... the higher score might come by the extra CPU power or the extra default core/mem clocks .
whats your default clocks ?? some or most 6800Us works @425Mhz core & 1100Mhz mem . if your core is running @400Mhz then that would explain it.
also the drivers can affect the score . i see you are using betas .. how about the 71.84 ??
in anyway i wouldnt be worry with that score . its not the best but its not "low" either .

12000 - 13500 depending on what else is in your system. Seeing the rig you got, that score "might" be right... Your CPU is a big handicap on your Ultra.

That score looks about right. My Athlon XP 3200+ @ 2.2 Ghz gets about 10,500 3dmarkswith a 6800GT ((Thats with memory async)) so your score seems dead on to me.

PPl really should be worried about in game performance IMHO ;) Fire up a few gamesa nd see if it is faster than what your old cards were. Many ppl in these forums are providing average fps numbers on different forceware drivers as well if u look around.

I ran 3dmark03 again since I hadn't for a while since 67.66.
I got 11366 with my CPU@~2.22ghz, 6800GT-OC@400/1100 76.41.
I'm guessing it's cpu limited.

And what MUYA said. If the games are playing fine, forget about 3dMarkX. ;)

Bah your 3dmark scores on your sig. :D J/k. 3dmark is a fun bench and I bench it purely for e-pen0s inflation. :)

They should call it "E-pen0s Mark" :D

afterall i still like 3DMark & Aquamark .. not just for the e-pen0s perposes :p , but also to measure your PCs/video card's performance if you dont have a basic game to benchmark on . & gives a feel on how your PC/VGAs stack up againest the others .

11,400 was my 3DMK03 score when i had a xp3200+ and my current 6800 ultra, that was at default settings and with the 67.03 driver.

Hmm strange.. just ran 3dmark05 and got 5300 3dmarks... I have seen other 6800u's that got a bit under 13000 in 3dmark03 but 4500 in 05.. Its obviously the other way around with my card.. or what...

It has 425 on the core, and the ram is at 1.1 standard..

Your card is fine - don't worry. Just forget about 3DMark or atleast don't care about 500 points. I get 4800 (05) with my GT.

Most likely they used older non optimized drivers. Don't worry. Your card works just fine. You might be a bit CPU limited in some games but it should be no problem in any game anytime soon. Now crank up the AA and AF since you got tons of grpahics power to waste. ;)

:p Another place to brag! :D

3DMark 2K5 5469 (http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=687833)

3DMark 2K3 11511 (http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=3827041)

Both run with NV's newest drivers. That aren't yet FM approved.

All on a fricken Compaq. :nana:

Going to a 6800GT from a 9800 Pro my e-pen0s went into overdrive! :naughty:

Oh yeah on topic, OPF@ndy your a little CPU limited as I am. You might squeeze 12000 out of it with OCing. What card did you have before the Ultra?

It runs great in Doom 3 and Far Cry etc, and I'm really happy with the card :D

It could be the power supply... only 300W... havent recieved my 480W yet, maybe that would make a difference :P

If a PSU would increase my score in 3DMark .. i would be the first one to get a 600+W PSU :D

in anyway yeah your current PSU is below the recommendations for the 6800U .. at least for stability issues with 480W you will be confident to be fine .

I'm surprised, I only get around 5460 in 3Dmark05 with my BFG 6800 Ultra OC in it's stock settings on my P4 3.2e also basically stock, just oc's an extra 150mhz to 3.336 from 3.215. You must be OC'ing something on your computer for that score. With some light overclocking of my bfg 6800 ultra from the stock 425/1.1 to 443/1.4 it bumped me up about another 200pts and ran stable.

P.S. Forgot to mention, i'm running the 71.84 Drivers.

I get about 12,800 in 3dmark03 with my BartonM @ 2.41ghz and my GT at 430/1200 with drivers like the ones you used. If I bench at 400/1100, I get about 11,800 so your score is normal.

You'll only get "13,000+", if you're using A64 oc'ed past 2.4-2.5GHz or P4 oc'ed to like 3.6-3.8ghz along with a 6800GT/U clocked to like 440-450 and 1150+ on the memory.

No it's a Compaq, I can't over clock anything but my card. And It's running at Ultra speeds. It's just a sweet PC really, it's funny how I have people that laugh at me for having a Compaq yet it runs right along with there set up.
I will have had it 2 years this July, and I only paid $350.00 for it from a friend that deals in bulk purchases. ;)
I'm not saying it the best thing ever, But for what I use it for, I love it.

My system gets 11330, and I only have a Pentium 4 3.0GHz. If I had a 6800 Ultra I don't think I'd do much better because I'm so CPU limited. If you had an Athlon 64 4000+ you'd definitely be scoring over 13000 with a 6800 Ultra.
