Found this article (http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=2382) about Asus's Socket 479 -> Socket 478 adapter. This adapter allows users to drop a PM into Asus's i865 based P4P800-SE/VM, giving the PM dual channel DDR and better overclocking which are lacked by i855GME based desktop boards.

In it's conclusion, Anandtech wrote:

An interesting point is that strictly from the perspective of gaming performance, an o/ced PM @ 2.56GHz appears to be a worthy competitor to an FX-55, almost matching the FX-55 clock for clock.

In other applications such as media encoding, the PM, even when o/ced, still lags behind other desktop processors.

*Now taking cover from the ensuing flame.

Yeah, those Pentium-M's are hella good chips. It's the only Pentium chip I would ever remotely consider buying.

It's good on some stuff like gaming but
lacks behind even the older cpu's in some test.
