The spammer gets spammed

West Bloomfield bulk e-mailer Alan Ralsky, who just may be the world's biggest sender of Internet spam, is getting a taste of his own medicine.

Ever since I wrote a story on him a couple of weeks ago (www.freep.com/money/tech/mwend22_20021122.htm), he says he's been inundated with ads, catalogs and brochures delivered by the U.S. Postal Service to his brand-new $740,000 home.

It's all the result of a well-organized campaign by the anti-spam community, and Ralsky doesn't find it funny.

"They've signed me up for every advertising campaign and mailing list there is," he told me. "These people are out of their minds. They're harassing me."

That they are. Gleefully. Almost 300 anti-Ralsky posts were made on the Slashdot.org Web site, where the plan was hatched after spam haters posted his address, even an aerial view of his neighborhood.

"Several tons of snail mail spam every day might just annoy him as much as his spam annoys me," wrote one of the anti-spammers.

Ralsky is indeed annoyed. He says he's asked Bloomfield Hills attorney Robert Harrison to sue the anti-spammers.

Nope, I'm not. My primary language is french, but I guess I write more english than french these days.

Hmm, okay. So, it's the life I live which lives my life. Eh, stupid sentence, but it seems to make the idea fairly clear :)

I think it's the amount which makes him go mad.
I'd guess he got about 100 or 200 junk mail in his RL inbox/day.
If you had that, I promise you wouldn't say there's nothing wrong with it :)

I guess it's a good thing I don't visit Slashdot often. I would've nabbed the freaks address and sent him something REALLY nasty. But, in case someone with his address is lurking here, I can give you my ideas.

My first idea immediately was to send him a pipebomb but I nixxed that very attractive idea right away because I don't need a visit from the FBI again (they hate my website - they'd like to see it go away because they're afraid people asserting their Constitutional and Civil rights could "instigate terrorism"). Plus, I don't know a thing about making pipebombs anyway and that spamming puke ain't worth 20-to-life in Jackson so out with that idea.

My next idea is simple...box up a pile of dog***** and send it to the rotten SOB with a nice little catch on the package - "Since you sent millions of online patrons with a bunch of crap...we thought we'd return the favor but with the REAL deal!! We also think that you're a walking pile anyway so...well...birds of feather, y'know!"

This type of revenge would be so poetic. There's that old adage, "Fight fire with fire" but when it comes to spam, I fight crap with crap! My policy on spam has always been to collect it, read the headers, and mail it right back 10 fold to the manufacturer's "Customer Support" department or "Webmaster" along with the rest of the spam I accumlated that week (I bet the webmaster and tech gurus at Symantec have grown really fond of me lately).

Now that THE spammer has a name and has gotten a taste of his own medicine, I wonder if I'm going to be included in his frivolous lawsuit. If so, let me make it easier for him and his attourneys to find me...

One of those Korean gamers spent 70+ hours playing one of those FPS Quake-like games before he keeled over. The corroner ruled the cause of death was "exhaustion from being in the same position for too long".

This has raised some serious debate among me and my fellow gamers, One dude asked me if his death should count as a frag?

I said no.

If you thought that stuff was funny, you should see me LIVE on a gameserver. If someone puts me in a foul mood, out comes the froth, and half the people complain that they can no longer play the game for the tears of laughter/rage in their eyes. :D

Perfect example - playing Xian's RTCW "Beach" server (the mods turned it to FF Off & 1-life-to-live for a game), there's a kraut in the Ducts armed with a Venom. Nasty combination that usually kills a slew noobs but nothing that I can't take care of. Anyway, I'm in the the Ducts waiting for a few seconds for my charge bar to go up and a teammate is behind me. After a few moments, he kept saying "Move" over and over. Yeah...like I'm going to move and get hundreds of holes drilled into me by the afore mentioned Kraut and his hedgehog. :rolleyes:

He kept spamming "Move" and finally I had enough. I whirled around to face him, brought my panzer right to his eyebrows and said, "SHADDAP, Beavis...or I'll add your sorry arse to my suicide rate!!!" :mad:

Console erupts with a slew of "LOL"s, "LMAO"s and "WTF"s.

He kept going on.
I fired. :p
