Just wondering why I'm getting ripped on my cable modem transfer rates when I download from Europe while they upload at North American speeds from me. Czech Republic? Halfway across the world!

It depends on how fast their upload speeds are. I'm a long time user of DC++, and I don't think that location has anything to do with it.

yeah, alot of services have like 8mbit down and 1mbit up, So if your downloading from some guy with a line like that, and he has like 10 slots, that means you and 9 other guys are sharing his 1mbit out.
1mbit = 125kb/sec, so that would be about 12kb/sec in a case like that.
some have even slower upload speeds, 512kbit or 256kbit..

You could try enabling "Use small send buffers" in advanced in options.
If uploads slows down your downloads, that is supposed to help.
