Hello guys,

I recently purchased a Gainward 6800 Ultra and compared to my slightly older card (MSI 6600GT), there was only a slight performance increase of 10 FPS. My obersavations are based on "Counter-Strike Source" game play. Currently I am not running in max resolution and during gameplay my FPS constantly flutuates from 30 to over 100. Don't get me wrong, 100 is good but getting 30 fps is not what i expected for paying $750.00

My system specs:

AMD 64 3000+ (2 GHz)
Asus K8V SE Ultra motherboard
1024 MB Ram
Gainward 6800 Ultra/2600
550 Watt Power supply
120 GB Western Digital SATA drive

Note:

I have also overclocked my processor from 2 GHz to 2.27 Ghz with no performace increase.

I have the latest video card drivers.

Can anyone help me fix this problem... Is there a problem? I hope there is and possibly something i can do to fix it. Any help from you guys would be greatly apprieciated. Thanks in advance!

You never actually specified what resolution you're trying to run. If it's something like 1024x768 or 1152x864 with minimal anti-aliasiang and/or anisotropic filtering, then you're not going to see a performance increase at all because you're not limited by the GPU at those settings.

It also looks like you're running a S754 CPU, and its single-channel memory capability further limits you.

I've played around with the settings and found that it worked best in:

1280 x 960
anti-aliasiang = 6x
anisotropic filtering = biliniear (by turning it on will slow down game play)

$750 is a lot to pay for a 400-500 dollar card...

6x anti-aliasing is an ATI-only setting, NVIDIA cards don't support it.
