I can play the game just fine, but whenever I exit the game I get this error.

Build: (null)

OS: Windows XP 5.1 (Build: 2600)
CPU: AuthenticAMD Unknown processor @ 2516 MHz [2036315193344.000000 0] with 1023MB RAM
Video: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT (6693)

General protection fault!

History: FD3DResource::~FD3DResource <- UD3DRenderDevice::FlushDevice <- UD3DRenderDevice::FlushDevice <- UD3DRenderDevice::SetRes <- UWindowsViewport::EndFullscreen <- UWindowsViewport::ViewportWndProc <- WWindow::StaticWndProc <- CMainLoop::RunLoop <- MainLoop

and then the computer restarts. If I disable the system reboot failure option, I get the BSOD with the IRQL not less or equal error, but my ram is fine. It seems the error is something to do with my video card. I am using the spec in my sig with the 66.93 drivers. Does this game work better with newer drivers?

Its supposed to run good in the newer drivers yes .try the 71.84 , i finished it on these drivers with no issues.

Do these have the high temperature detection bugs? Also in that same vein, was that just a bug or do the 7X.XX series actually raise the core temperature?

OK, installed the 71.84's and the game works fine, but now I can't run Project:Snowblind as all I get is a black screen whereas it was fine before. I love video drivers, they always fix one thing and break another.

OK, I am trying the 76.41 drivers and if they don't work for all my games I am gonna lose it.

Yeah i was about to say that :D

as for the temp bug i believe its only occuring in some drivers not all of the 7x.xx series & the bug only appear on the idle not load temps .. as some members here in nvnews told me.

Hey I like Snowblind, it's a nice mindless shooter...Anyway I got everything working with the 76.41's. I just have to check and see if source is working fine with none of this yellow water I've been hearing about.

This sounds like a Athlon 64 DEP problem, which tonnes of people have had. Simply disabling it usually sorts the problem out. Do a search on these forums its been discussed alot.

It seriously affects Unreal engine games, which BiA is.

3 threads about the temp bug...

Plenty more too. For me, it's actually raising the temps. It's not misread, but draw your own conclusions.

Another post by me tha I'll just quote that sums it up.

cards that are affected have a default 2d core speed of 400MHz or less, my default 2D core speed is 400MHz and the drivers that raise the temps are 71.40. 71.50, 71.80, 71.81, 71.83, 71.84, 71.90 and 75.90.....70.41, 70.78, 70.90, 71.20, 71.21, 71.22, 71.25 don't raise the temps. Overclocking my 2D speed to 401MHz will cause the temps to drop from aroud 68*C to 57*C and this drop can be verified by measuring the air temp coming out of the cooling fan housing.

76.10 also has the temp bug. Drivers dated after march 8th should be fixed (so says EP). I havn't heard of any 6x.xx drivers raising the temps either, so you should be ok with those.
If your ultra's 2d core speed is higher than 400, you won't see a difference.

76.41 doesn't have it.
