Hia,
I would like to know if they can be connected to my monitor and not lose any picture quality.
Would this be the type of thing i need :http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000902DP/qid%3D1112693794/202-5539090-7539040
Or is there a better option to go for like a tv tuner or something?
Thanks for any advice :)

yea, a vga box will do it. there are some vga box that will scale the image to a specific resolution and also have a tv tuner. like this one. [kworld vga box/tv tuner] (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=15-100-114&depa=0)
that vga box you linked to doesn't seem too good. it only outputs at 50hz for PAL and at 60hz for ntsc and only has a maximum output resolution of 800x600.

I need to find out if i can get something as good as that in the uk.
Is there a better option to go for other than a vga box??

hey if you find something good here for a good price please report back. i had a vga box about a year ago. cant remember what it was called but it was silver plastic with a black X across it. Anyway, that was rubbish and over-priced. The picture was really pixelated on my 21" Dell/Sony CRT, and I played through all of FFX on my PS2 with it, but am now regretting it.

Im worried the picture will be pixelated on my screen as i have a 22" viewsonic crt(max res 2048-1536 :D ), But i suppose the games would look pixelated as a tv's res and quality is very low and blurry compared to a crt,lcd screen.
Also if the vga box outputs at 1280-1024 would the ps2,gc,xbox game be running at 1280-1024 or would the normal 640-480 (tv res) be stretched up to 1280-1024
The one gram_vaz linked me to seems really good
This one seems ok. Its similar to the one i found on amazon with higher res but less connections at the back:http://www.gameseek.co.uk/productdetail/Cube1w300gvsrqekgbhf/#screenshots

a vga box is about as good as it gets for displaying tv signals on your computer monitor. vga boxes also don't have video lag that many tv tuner cards have.
as for quality. when you scale the picture like that your almost always going to get a little pixelation or blurriness but that's mostly do to the low res and quality of the ntsc/pal signal. like you said when the vga box outputs at 800x600 or 1280x1024 all the vga box is doing is stretching the tv resolution.
that new one you linked to seems good.

that new one you linked to seems good.
Its available at maplin stores but its £60.
I'll have to try and find some reviews to see what people think of it.
I used to run an XBox through a Radeon 7200 All in wonder so I could develop at 100hz on 21" monitor and it was pretty good. Slightly washed out color compared to a real TV, but a far better experience (compared to the available TVs). The thing you link to should be fine, just remember that any conversion results in some loss of quality.

Hmm... you've posted two Logic3 ones. How are they different? The top one doesnt have much of a description. I think a friend of mine had one that was similar to that top one, and it wasnt that good. Very pixelated. I dont know about the other guys ho have posted saying it is ok, but the ones I have seen have been poor, and Im not all that picky really.

This is the one im more interested in: http://www.gameseek.co.uk/productdetail/Cube1w300gvsrqekgbhf/#screenshots
The 1st one i posted has more ports at the back so i could connect 2-3 consoles to it at once but the one at gameseek (link) is newer and produces higher resolutions and better refresh rates.
I wish i could see one in action. If you find any reviews of the Logic3 super vga box please post them.
Cheers
npras42: Is this the one you had? Found it on ebay.

Yes. That is the one I had. It was crap. Useable yes, but the PS2 doesnt exactly excel in the graphics department as it is (aliasing especially), and this makes it look like the frames are being rendered by a NES.

Yeah. Thats what I remember it being a bit like. I remember he had trouble getting it to work at all sometimes. The screen would just be blank even though it was all set up right. It required pulling the plug out and then putting it back in.
Motion blurring was a problem with both mine and his. God forbid trying to play Pro Evo. FFX was probably the only game I really think I could have played in hindsight.

That XRGB2 sounds great. Im gonna do some research on it :)
Ive read the article (http://www.atarilabs.com/meat/2001/0120_XRGB2.shtml) and im woundering if i plugged my BNC cable into something like the logic 3 super vga box if it would have better image quality rather than using the normal vga to vga??
This is the cable: http://www.casecooler.com/6ft5bnctohdm.html
I assume it would work the same way just without the drop in quality as it would be using seperate channels for each colour   i think??
I found these if your interested:

The XRGB2 is highly recommended by alot of reviewers and i would get one if it wasnt for the price and the fact that you need jap scart leeds to make it work :thumbdwn:
Most of the vga box reviews ive linked are great and well worth it if you have the money but im personally not going to spend that type of cash on one.
Maybe the lower end product logic 3 super vga box is my only option so if i decide to get one i'll report back with my thoughts :)
Cheers

Word. Does 480i, 480p, 720p and 1080i, and does them well. Also has optical 5.1 out, and acts as its own switchbox for A/V between computer and xBox. It's the only must have xBox accessory I've seen.

I will let ya all know how well it performs once I get it, Can't wait to see God of War on m PC Monitor!

I already own a VDigi VD-Z3 and Neoya X2VGA VGA pack. Not really much that one can do that the other can't. The picture quality is awesome on both of them and even rivals the the quality of my real HDTV.
Oh and about God of War... I have played it on my monitor with the VD-Z3. Needless to say, you aren't going to be disappointed. ;)

Z3 can connect to other consoles other then the Xbox, so its future proof... the x2vga is limited to the Xbox only.
My roommate is gonna use the X2VGA since he only has an Xbox currently.

If it works well with the ps2 and gc i'll be tempted to get one myself.
