DAMN! There is so much dust on it, that it wasn't even funny. The amount of dust that piles up is ludicrous. :o

That's it, I'm going to flip my fan upside down so it blows air out, instead of on the heatsink.

I've tried that and it doesn't really make a big diff temp wise, although I'm not sure what effect it would have on the amount of dust collecting.

The dust does effect cpu temp doesn't it?
The top of my heatsink had so much dust on it, it was a blanket of dust. I blew slightly on the dust and it just went crazy all over the place.

just get a can of compressed air and blow that junk out.;) I do that sometimes, I like keeping everything nice and shiny inside my case.:D

turning the Fan around the other way doesnt make any difference to the CPU temps but it wont help with your dust .. It'll just get cought in the heat sync and the underside of your fan :D
best thing is a can of compressed AIR.

It want cool as good if you turn the fan blowing outwards.example, point a fan toward your face and let it blow toward your face and then turn it around and let it suck the air away from your face, and witch one cools you better.Just get you some of them thin filters like go on the front of a air condtioner at Walmart and cut them to the size you need to put in the front and back or where every your air sucks in .I have one in front and in back over my fans and about every month I take them out and dust them off and put back in and I don't have any problems with dust in my case.

Actually it has made a small difference. :)
The cpu temp is more around 40 degrees from where it used to be 45 degrees (all centigrade readings) on a hot day.
My PC oc'ed from 1.5GHz to 1.8GHz.

It's still a good ideal to put filters in your case,it keeps it clean.

What you need to do is to get the brother of that little guy who lives inside your fridge who turns on/off the lights to live inside your computer to vacuum the dust away. :D

Go to nexfan.com and order some aluminium fan filters. They are easier to clean than regular dust filters.

Compressed air is damn expensive.... blah. Although, if you have a canister vacuum, you can take some cardboard, a straw, and some duct tape, put that together, and voila, you have an instant Super-Sucking Straw Thingy. :p

forget compressed air, i use my electric bike pump / air pump. it works just as good, plus since the air comes out the sides, you can reach hard to reach places alot easier. something to consider.

My OCZ Goliath has an 80mm Delta that sucked the air up...it actually cooled better this way since the thing was practically sealed, but it was still a dusty PoS after a few months...

Don't laugh, when I dismantled my FTP server for a HDD upgrade and MUCH OVERDUE dust-off (it's a slot-1 P2-400), I was afraid already by the amount of dust I found on the mobo just below the PSU and around the RAM sticks... But man, that was nothing compared to what had accumulated INTO the CPU heatsink. Imagine an large opaque, whitish cloud of dust ? That's exactly what I got when I blew air into it.

Think fire hazard ?
