Batch File by Reverend (http://3dpulpit.hostingisfree.com/files/scct_benchmark.zip)

A batch file to bench SPlinter Cell Chaos Theory

Benchmarking Scripts for Splinter Cell : Chaos Theory
===============================================

Ubisoft was kind enough to provide me with a sample of this but I have modified them
to cover all resolutions you normally see in reviews by hardware media outlets for
both shader models supported by the game (ShaderModel 1_1 and ShaderModel 3_0).

For SM3

Does it work with the demo , or i'm going to need the full game for it ?

This with Full Retail version patched up. I dunno if it works with the dmeo version

Why no benchies yet ?? i'd like to see some SLI benchies with & without HDR.
i would bench if i have the game but i dont.

I thought my rig was fairly bad ass (my rig is in my sig), but this games slows it to a crawl! None of these results come up with a game that plays well on my PC. All settings were with AA off and AF off. HDR looks SO much nicer, that I am playing at 1024x768 with HDR ON (SM3), but at times the framerate is terrible.

AVERAGE FPS MIN FPS MAX FPS Comment
39.5 23.46 119.30 1024x768 SM1.1
31.1 16.76 80.36 1024x768 SM3 HDR ON
36.64 19.49 109.97 1024x768 SM3 HDR OFF

27.9 15.94 82.65 1280x1024 SM1.1
21.21 10.78 55.38 1280x1024 SM3 HDR ON
25.88 13.84 77.35 1280x1024 SM3 HDR OFF

I'm using the 71.89 drivers.

Muya - your rig is similar to mine, but you have better results. What driver version are you using?

MUYA

That is strange. Plus I have all optimizations off! Weird that! I am using 81.84 drivers dude. I will bench with HDR soon

Hmm, well I loaded on the 76.44 drivers last night and performance is pretty much the same for me.

I'd be interested to see the modifications you did to the INI files supplied above. I am using them as is, except I changed the 1280x960 res to 1280x1024. Did you change that too, or are you actually running 1280x960 as Reverend has it set?

My benchmarks are with NO AF and AA too and STILL they are lower than yours. Are you doing any driver tweaks? I am using default driver settings (quality, not high quality, etc). I don't know if setting the profile to "Splinter Cell" would help me at all?

I use no optimzations period!

I stand by what I wrote in that review. my 6800 Ultra does play some games with 4X AA and 8X AF w/o optimizations! Some games...well, like the higher res benches indicate are a bit too much.

So you think the Leadtek is that much better than the BfG?

In this INI file, you have HDR=1, but you said in your original benchmark you had HDR off. Can you try a benchmark with this INI file you posted? Still though, my HDR off benchies are still lower than yours... BTW, what is your OS? I'm on Windows XP with SP2.

What I want is to get smooth 1280x1024 working with HDR on (min framerate no less than 30) but I'm not sure that's possible without moving to SLI?

Anyone have SLI and care to run some benchies?

1280 x 1024 WITH sm3.0 HDR is indeed maybe a tiny bridge too far for my GT.

I run 1024 x 768 with all sm3.0 HDR options enabled. Shadow rez at medium & V-sync disabled.

PC specs = see sig.

CT timedemo scores ;

average 48 fps
minimum 36 fps
maximum 69 fps

The numbers just confirm how great my Gainward GT runs this game.

When I run fraps ingame, there's lotsa spots where I hit 100 though. It seems the game is capped there.

Check the game's own profile & make sure all options there are just like whats in the global settings then run the benchie.

Ok heres my benchies (VDM & HQSS are enabled) :

AVERAGE FPS MIN FPS MAX FPS Settings
53 30 156 (1600x1200,2xAA,8xAF,Q,71.89)

44 27 106 (1600x1200,0xAA,HDR,8xAF,Q,=)

63 36 160 (1280x1024,4xAA,8xAF,Q,=)

60 32 160 (1280x1024,4xAA,8xAF,HQ,=)

60 37 146 (1280x1024,0xAA,HDR,8xAF,Q,=)

I'm going to play the game @1280x1024,4xAA,8xAF,Quality since the game is dark & due to that it will be hard to spot the mip & filtering optimizations.

i'll leave the HDR either for next play or couple it with 1600x1200 res on next gen video card ;)

1280x1024 only ? man i'm playing the game@1600x1200 & its still smooth that i want to stress it with more effects to make it run slower! :)

BTW i found a bug in the benchmark that makes Sam turn slightly off the scripted path & boom ! the whole benchmark goes wrong. i dont know how to fix that bug other than reinstalling the whole benchie utility :thumbdwn:
