View Full Version : Can I have ANY fun with a Voodoo1?

I have an original (creative issue I think) Diamond Monster3d... but I'm debating on what to do with it!! I don't want to throw it in someone's net browser P166, but would rather hook someone up who would actually use it (maybe even me if it would prove interesting)... I have a great companion card, a #9 GXE64Pro... awesome 2d perf, great memory optimization...

This card would be in heaven in a:

PII-233 thru 300
128mb PC-66
SB AWE64
ATA-66 card & HD...

...right? Or is that overkill for this class of card?

If I were to keep the system this card is in, it would be used as a second machine (browser/downloader), but would also serve as a Quake1/2/Unreal1-ish gamer (is unreal un-realistic? I've seen it crawl on a K-6/500/Bladegfx))... I'd be willing to install old games on my newer system just so I could multiplay @ home...

Could I have fun with this card AT ALL? Or should I just sell it to some Voodoo aficionado?

I thought orig. Voodoo1's didn't run in SLI, isn't that a Voodoo2 thing??

**Framed, wall-hung art-piece?**
**Paperweight?**

They didnt. It was Indeed a Voodoo 2 feature.

i think some crazy company sold a "SLI Voodoo 1" which was basically two boards stuck together though.

but you're right, you can't just buy two Voodoo 1s and run them in SLI

that system is definitely overkill for the Voodoo 1. that's more a Voodoo 2 system.

ATI has a $50 rebate towards the purchase of any card if you send in an old video card. :D Jip them out of $50... you know you want to :p

i don't think a Voodoo 1 would play Unreal or Quake 2 decently. it would work "fine" with Quake 1.

$50 for a Voodoo 1, that's a good deal :)

IF this is true...
I'd rather send in one of my 5 or 6 Mach64 PCI cards...

Yeah, there ain't much fun that can be had with this card... too bad, kinda...

Every time I've checked ATI before, the equation always comes out:
ATI_Price - rebate > Pricewatch.com

Somebody happily correct me if situation is now changed
