when i installed my 6600gt agp, my pc wouldnt boot,, it got as far as first black screen & showed a few lines of text xp2600 via400, then froze, after messing about for ages i turned down ultra settins in system bios to lowest setting (fast) & it booted up.but because its on lowest setting it seems slow, examle 10.000 3d marks on 3d2001 & in games it slows down when theres lots on screen; i have a mercury 380psu 17a on 12v rail ,if upgrading psu .could i change settings back to ultra or wouldnt it make any difference.

you don't have enough amps on the 12volt rail. you need atleast 18. i had a 350 watt that was pushing 16 and it burned up. i got a roosewill from newegg with a 34 amp 12 volt rail and this everything works like a charm. just for reference, what brand is your 6600gt?
