View Full Version : LCD right edge clipped
I have a Toshiba Satellite 5100 with an nVidia 440 Go 64Mb and 1600x1200 UXGA. I'm using Mandrake 9 and the latest nVidia drivers. Whenever the Xserver loads up, the right edge of the display is clipped (missing ~10 columns of pixels). Has anyone else had this problem or better yet a solution? I'm currently using 1600x1200 at 24bpp, but lower colour depths and resolution modes also seem to have the same problem. I've also tried different framebuffer modes or no framebuffer.
Thanks in advance!

Try this (instruction for RedHat 8.0, but you should have a similar conf file somewhere in Mandrake):
Add the following line to /etc/modules.conf :
options NVdriver NVreg_SoftEDIDs=0 NVreg_Mobile=2
Thanks Jeremey, that did the trick!

Hi!
I am fairly new to Linux. I did manage to get the driver working on my Toshiba Satellite 2410 (GeForce 4 420 Go) running Mandrake 9. However, I also have the right side of the screen clipped off. I tried changing the module.config file but the screen is still clipped.
Also I can not change resolutions, and I try I just get a lower resolution.

Try changing the options line to:
options nvidia NVreg_SoftEDIDs=0 NVreg_Mobile=2
The name of the kernel module was changed in the last update...
