Hey guys, I'm doing a term paper on the evolution of mmorpgs and I'm trying to assert that gamers and gaming styles have changed since eq- I have a survey at http://isuerica.tripod.com/mmorpgsurvey//mmorpg_survey.pdf
if you guys would take the time out to fill it in or shoot me an email at ISUErica@gmail.com with some info on what you think has changed, especially with regard to social networks, time requirements (mission/leveling), extensiveness of races, classes, guilds, equipment, quests, aesthetics, and maps it would be awesome. If you throw in how long you usually play that would be great too. Daedelus has lots of eq data but I'm really focusing beyond that to guild wars era. Once I get the data together, I'll send it out to anyone who is interested.

Well... it seems I am cancelling my CE preorder now. They said they would extend the "headstart preorder event" TEN days to May 8th... then just now my cantha characters got cut off and I can't play... then they talk about how some people were "abusing" the free play and beating the game then not buying it... yet I already paid the CE off as soon as I preordered it MONTHS ago... and now I have to wait until AT LEAST Friday to play again? Or maybe even June 30th if I don't get some of the initial copies of the CE...
So now I cancel it and I will come off as one of those people who "abused" the system because I get ****ed for having paid 20 dollars more for their "collectors" edition.

Heh... and now I got banned from guildwarsguru message boards for bitching about it to Gaile Gray or whatever the name is for having posted on the OFFICIAL site that it was extended and then Gaile said something about how "playing for free" had to come to an end... so of course I had to make a sarcastic ass post about how its news to me that 70 dollars was now classified as "free"... freaking jackasses on guild wars.

ROFL at mini pets. WTH? I dont think they are cool at all they look stupid and childish. Why Anet makes it look like they are grasping at straws? :( This reminds me of shoulder panda and bunny dolls in CoH... Yuck!
Where's a manly MMORPG that devs dont design girly stuff for it to manitain the female subscribers numbers up and probably attract new ones.

You are in the minority... the minipets have seemed to be received REALLY well for the most part so far... people are paying ridiculous amounts of money to collect them and everything...
I just got a Mini Temple Guardian with my ranger from launch... my monk should be getting his within the month.

I'm used to that, being in the minority :D . Mini pets not my taste really. True they go for 100k + Xectos in Tyria. I liked the new Tiger pet though.

Well I got my CE on Friday and have been playing like crazy... got home from work... logged in after I showered and found out I have my new Kuunavang minipet ;).
It pwns me.

Well apparently they didn't make very many of them and the "second batch" is supposed to come June 30th... it comes with a mousepad, a thick artbook, a calander, sticker or two (not sure), this ingame minipet, "special" dance for the Assassin and ritualist (you get backup dancers... sounds stupid but it is fun ;)), soundtrack and maybe one or two more things... I forget.
What comes in the Factions CE? I haven't seen any in stores.
they have it in Best Buy here.

So...what's the verdict on Factions? It has yet to go on sale from what I've seen, though I haven't really been watching. I kinda fell out of love with GW. I just couldn't keep putting in the time necessary and I still can't, but I'd like to know about this to see if I should keep it in my sights for when the price goes down.
It's well worth the price,plus no monthly fees!
And factions is awesome!!!

well, i just found out that a new chapter to guild wars is already in beta testing!! Guild Wars Nightfall!! i love it!! guild wars and factions are the only games i have installed on my pc.. good good times..
here are the 2 new profesions
"The Paragon
The paragon isn't meant to be a frontline fighter. Instead, the paragon is best suited in a support role as a battle commander, capable of supporting teammates by throwing spears and using verbal chants and shouts that can boost the fighting abilities of those nearby. And the paragon's angelic nature isn't just aesthetic, as this profession's presence can help teammates resist hexes and other curses.
It's easy to identify paragons on the battlefield, thanks to their angelic look. Even the paragon's armor is saintly in appearance, thanks to the incorporation of ivory and mother of pearl in its materials. And if that weren't enough, a paragon's metal armor usually has the form of wings engraved in it. It's no wonder that the Elonians in the game believe that paragons are guardian angels sent by the gods to serve as champions for the people.
The Dervish
If the paragon is best while standing back from a fight, the dervish is at home in the heart of one. These holy warriors are capable of striking at multiple targets simultaneously with their wicked scythes. Of course, they're armed with a whirling, spinning attack that's perfect for when in the middle of a bunch of foes. Dervishes can also cast spells on themselves that aid in their assault, and the profession has various healing and protection abilities as well. The profession's most powerful ability, however, is to temporarily transform into the physical embodiment of a god.
Since the profession is part warrior and part priest, dervishes are clad in robes rather than armor. Protection comes mainly from the dervish's agility in battle, as well as the various protection enhancements and spells. In addition to the robe, dervishes are equipped with bracers on their arms, and they're constantly hooded to show their humility to their gods. -GameSpot"

That Dervish sounds pretty damned sweet. I want to get Factions...I've just heard that it doesn't offer a WHOLE lot, it's REALLY easy to get to 20 and the story is over pretty quick.
If it was $30 or less, I'd buy it in a second.
$50...that's a tough sell. For any game.

come on now.. yeah, its shorter, but the point of this game is teamwork.. its damn hard.. and you need to work as a team to get things done. i like it. its not better or worse than the original, just different.
i brought my main ele over to cantha and beat it and now i have 1.2 million exp points. i wont be using any other characters anymore. he is just way too fun. i have a ritualist that i beat cantha with. he;s okay, but there nothing like setting everything on fire. nothing.
and cantha does have neat scenery.. when i get a chance, ill post some screenshots here for you.

Hmm..been along time since i followed up on Guild Wars. Back early days of the beta weekends etc i did order the pre order copy so i can get into the beta weekends of the game..was quiet alot of fun..i also got into WoW..but didn't like it much compared to the pvp side of GW but sadly i orderd my copy form importmadness.co.uk..at first they lost my copy and atm i am still waiting for my gw copy to arrive..which was meant to arrive the first day gw servers officially went live :/....thats the end of gw for me ><:thumbdwn:..gotta say necromancers were my favourite :D
my fear is they will come out with new expansions too fast and not well done ruining the game.

With the PvP weekend close by, I took it upon myself to make a faithful sneak peek of the Dervish class. We all know it's supposed to have some god-like features. Well, I'm pretty sure it's gonna work just as I'm showing in this video:
