Are you talking about Devona? If so, you need to go to Lakeside County, then to the town of Ashford. She is in front of the house to the right of the mill house (with the water wheel).
(press the "L" key to see your quests, select the quest and then you can basically follow the green indicator arrow on your minimap in upper right).
Yeah, it is gorgeous...like a description I read in a review somewhere...like walking around in a painting.
yeah, I re-read the questlog and saw that I missed the part about where she was.
And yes, it IS like walking in painting. The water is STUNNING!
Where can I go to identify items, too?

Merchants sell Identification Kits for 100g that can be used 25 times. Honestly it's not worth identifying anything you find in the "newbie" part of the game.

I am still wondering why bloom doesn't seem to be as extreme as it was in the beta... I can notice some blooming but it doesn't look quite as nice as the beta did to me... no idea why it is like this for me :(.
What is the best pvp build? I know theres counters for everything so there isnt a "best" but I just want one that can dish out a **** load of dmg and keep me protected.... I was thinking Ranger Necro or Ranger Ele, good?
Ive had the game for like a week but dont want to progress because I want to decide on a class combo first heh.

Don't you mean DPS?
ahh yeah, best DPS character I guess, ive read Ranger/necro or ranger/ele is ok, but I dont wanna progress just to find out it sucks and wanna restart again.
Can someone please tell me where Thom is in Post Searing.
how do i get the damned bear pelt....i've killed two bears and they drop nothing...do i have to kill all the bears?

I had to kill four or five of them before a pelt dropped.

I just put in a solid 2 hours...I'm level 3.5 roughly and it's a blast. It's like diablo 2, but it doesn't suck. The graphics are ridiculous and combat is pretty fun. Not only that, quests are generally pretty easy and you don't have to run for 20+ minutes to find the person you need to talk to.
I like this game. A lot.

Be sure to explore noobie area before leaveing for Academy, getting more skills from trainers and some free items like bag , atribute point , ect even some armor parts , saveing gold and crafting materials is good idea to , will be easier in post -searing .

I'm about to purchase Guild Wars. Is there anything I should know? Anything driver related namely. I'm still running the 65.73s, everything past that seems wholly asstacular and craps out on Dscaler + Fullscreen [Nvidia's drivers have gone to serious crap this generation, might take the ATI plunge next-gen].
EDIT:
really? The latest offical drivers have always ran fine for me..

Same here. I'm running 71.84g and the game runs like a dream.

They ran fine for me as well...at 90C. That was at IDLE mind you.
Just got back from my Circuit City....frakers are sold out. We had like 500 on Saturday. Guess I'll purchase the key online.
Running WHQL 71.89 and no problems at all. The other guys I work with have a 6800NU and an ATI 9600. Both of them say the game runs great for them. Not sure if they're enabling AA/AF or not or what res though. I'm running perfectly smooth at 1600x1200 with all in-game video settings maxed out.
the latest offcial drivers fixed the temp bug..
even with the temp bug, that still is high though.
my temps reported back to the what they normally are.

You guys know anyplace I can download the Guild Wars manual? I just bought the CD-Key online, bastards don't even offer a manual in PDF.
Well I'm going to log in and play now, see the lot of you online.
Edit: BTW this is my first online game, I'm literally a virgin here. If I get this lag people speak of is there anyway to fix it?

Tell your roommates to turn off their torrents.
Get a faster connection
Kill everyone on the server that has lag.
So in reality...there isn't too much you can do. :-\
Enjoy though! I'm loving this game and it would be cool to team up with some other NVNers, I think.

Heh, saw the online manual, I meant the one that comes in the retail box. Thanks though.
As for lag, I saw other people getting it [I didn't]. Anyway I can stop other people from getting lag. Bastards are floating around like panzies, it's creeping me out. One second they're stuck in a run animatoin, the next, speedy fraking gonzalez.
As for my connection, live at home, nothing running in background, 6mbit connection [which is stuck at 3mbits, just called up dslextreme and bitched].
Now, getting to the meat, this game is GORGOUS. And it runs WELL, stock GT was fine at max in-game settings 16x12 2xAA. 4x was pushing it, so I'm going to overclock and see if that helps. SK, what settings do you play at?
BTW, any thoughts on an NvNews Guild?

I would love to start an NVNews Guild.
And I run at 1280x1024 4xAA/16xAF (forced through drivers). That's the max my monitor can run at, but it runs like butter.
Gorgeous, DirectX 9.0c using SM3.0 butter.
