From what I've read, it sounds like there are big plans for a number of expansion packs to Guild Wars. These would not be free but not sure what kind of price range they would be in. I'll try to find out where I read that.

Cool.. i dont mind paying for mission packs..because thats optional.. what i never liked is the montly fees.. :)

BTw.. saw some very nice looking Castles in the game ,can you enter them ? or they are they just there only for the eye candy. ?

BTW..
Found some updates that will be done to the game.. very soon.. in a patch.. maybe it was posted before.. here they are..

http://www.guildwars.com/news/gameupdates.html

Can't wait to get my hands on this game.. :)

Nice to know.. im more interested in the non-PVP side of the game.. But seem to quick the way so many people are reaching level 20.. for a game that have just 1 month in the market.. it is short the "single player" side of the game?

A side note.. RAge3d is also hooked with GW.. they have their own clan.. maybe we can fight againts them .:D

I hit lvl20 and now fighting in the hell of somewhat (the left buttom island). Well, one of the benefits of being lvl20 to me is that you are more easy to capture elite skills from the monsters, thats an important part of the game.

How i see this game? Other from questing, your main objective is to get the skills that you want, probably as many as prossible.

And you need to get to Drokanr (forget spelling) to get your last armor, not counting those 15k.

I've finished all the quests inside the primer. I'm trying to take on the Charr pre-searing and getting my ass-kicked. Damnit the game just went down. P-E-N-I-S!!!!!

Ok.. This is one of the best review have seen.. cleared almost all my questions.. :D

http://www.scifi-rpgs.com/guild-wars-review.html

It does a quick but straighforward comparison between GW and the more traditional MMORPGS games.

Interestingly.. ARENAnet developers of GW (made with some ex-bioware WOW developers) have plans to upgrade the game to the next chapter every 6 months ,and the game already released is just chapter 1. so there should be a chapter 2 late in the year with some others ~ 100 hours of gameplay. if things go well with no delays :D

The game consist of 25 single player cooperative online missions with 3 multiplayer massive PVP modes.., an as already have been said before players with TOP places PVP mode will have access to extra game unique "single player" multi cooperative online Role playing missions :D .. with cool new stuff as long as they are on the top players in Guildwars world. :) this alone is enough motivation for the people to continue improving their skills and their characters combos... but leave behind the people less skilled in combat modes// :o

Yes, the percentage hit icon that you see in the upper left will then go away. Seems like a way for the game engine to nudge you to get back to town and buy whatever you might need to boost your armor, etc.
That's a pretty good system...however..where the hell do you buy new armor and stuff?! All I can find are merchants who sell sh*t, customizers, and then crafters. Don't they have someone who just sells weapons without needing to have 5 iron ingots and this other crap to craft an item?

How did you get past the north wall to find that guy? There was that level you had to pull, but the gate closed way before you could get down to it.

And yeah, it got hard. fast.

You have to party up with someone to get through that door.

You can get armor, weapons, etc without any need for "crafting" with iron ingots and whatnot by going to "Collectors". You still need to give them stuff like scales, worn belts, etc but that stuff is easier to come by most of the time. One tip, if you find dye and need money...sell the dye. The dye trader in post searing Ascalon will give you 150 gold per bottle.

I had a PvP fight, that lasted for 30 mins.. everyone died on the teams except the two of us in about 5 mins.. and neither of us had the rez signet..

I was a N/R and he was a R/?

Anyways, it was a stalemate.. he had poison shot, pinn down, and a few others stuff.. while I had life siphon, suffering, blood sac?, and troll urgent.. neither of us could take each other down..well actually, i had him down to a sliver a bunch of times, but he would run away by pinning me down.. and I couldn't time my distract shot well enough to stop it..

finnally, i got tired of it, after 20 mins and let him kill me.

Okay...I new about the collectors, but besides them...all you can do is craft and hope for a drop? That kinda sucks. :(

Its called a MMORPG because it is infact, Massive, Multiplayer, Online, and a Roleplaying Game...

It just doesnt have what a lot of people who play other MMORPG's are used to.

So stop saying its not one, because when you disect the meaning of "MMORPG" it is exactly what it says it is.

I thought it sucked a bit at first too. However, the fact that getting better weapons is more involved kind of makes you appreciate them more. You can also disassemble or deconstruct other items to "harvest" crafting materials like fur, iron, etc. I've not done this yet though but that's a neat twist as well.

once you get the advanced salvage kit(yak's bend i think is the first place), you can start getting things like grips, wraps, runes, etc to put enhancements on your armor and weapons.. especially on the higher level places, where more interesting stuff can get dropped.

when you get to the higher levels, you start seeing relatively more (but still not much) rare stuff.. that comes up as purple

Also, the next jump in armor I've seen is in Lions Gate.

Yup... I just got done buying me a new 15-28 halfmoon bow yesterday and my gosh... I love the speed so much when combined with Tiger's Fury (attack 33% faster)... basically Legolas from LOTR lol.

If any of you guys have a gold short bow or half moonwith some good +dmg (while health above 50) let me know and I will buy it... I wish I could find a 15-28 half moon with +20% damage while health is above 50%... with that I would basically explode lol.

Awesome...I guess there's a lot to look forward to, still. :)

And everyone...what about that NVN Guild?

Where did you get that?

I'm using a 13-23 Elemental Earth Flatbow
+20% damage when health is abveo 50% i believe
+4 armor (bow grip)

Plus bonus damage from being personalized to me.

I think I have another bow siting in storage 13-23, except its piercing damage, and its a recurve bow i believe.. i forget.

I haven't gotten the Tiger's Fury skill yet either.. Did you get it from a quest?

I'm on the fence, for my N/R, deciding if I should wear my +40 armor, or should I switch over and run naked with scars +30 armor, but with alot of +energy and +energy regen... (just got into Lion's Gate recently)

I'm not waiting any longer, I'll make the guild when I get home today...well...once I find the guild register in the new dead world. I want a freaking cape already. Also, since i'm post-searing you guys tell me your character and if I pick up any powerful weapons I can't use and that you can, I'll give them to people inside the guild.

Also leave your in-game name and district so I can contact you if nessesry. If anyone wants to chat I'm Callisto Troi [ya, I'm playing a chick].

WTF.. I just got Vampiric String for my bow.. Shouldn't it be steal health 1 and health regen -1 on the Target? (not health regen -1 on user of bow)

I just got the Vampiric String for my bow and applied it.. Steal Health 1, and Health Regen -1.. I would think that both would apply to the target, but instead, the user is stuck iwth the health Regen of -1.. That doesn't make sense? Whats the point of having it then? the health regen -1 ont he user hurts more than steal health of 1.

Well it's sucking your blood, hence Vampiric. Works for me.

there's no death penalty in the begging of the game, second profession go talk to Armin by Tydus in Aschalon, then go find whoever you wanna take the profession from.

yes,, figure it already.. but thanks.. :)

Dont know if this is the thread to share game tactics , but i think it will be a great idea to make a sticky post an Nvnews FAQ for Guildwars.. where people can use for reference. the same could be done for EQ2 or WOW.. with only the aswers to most of the questions of each game .:)

The manuscript that came with the game says something about weaponsmith.. perhaps im too early on the game to look for them..just curious where they are..

Clay
05-13-05, 04:49 PM
There are weaponsmiths early in the game. In Ascalon City, just look for the guy buy tents/carts...it will say "Weapons" by his name...there is also a "Craftsmen" there.

We might do a sticky...for now we'll just see how this new subform for MMORPGs works out.
