yes,, figure it already.. but thanks.. :)

Dont know if this is the thread to share game tactics , but i think it will be a great idea to make a sticky post an Nvnews FAQ for Guildwars.. where people can use for reference. the same could be done for EQ2 or WOW.. with only the aswers to most of the questions of each game .:)

The manuscript that came with the game says something about weaponsmith.. perhaps im too early on the game to look for them..just curious where they are..

I've played throgh Pre-Searing 3 times already, I'm starting to become a expert. I might type up a noob guide for the area. Give a few class suggestions as well [I've played around with Warrior + Most Secondary Professions].

Ok..
Im a warrior at level 6 but still at the begining of the game.. wanted to be armed ,very well protected and very strong before moving to the next Missions in the game :o

I was looking to mix Warrior with Rangers secondary.because i really like them. However i notice that the supposly advantage of rangers of distance is very weak at best.. because once i atack a monters.. they quickly comes closer enough to me ,to be at range for an atack ,and this is before i manage to fire a second shot. :(

So i was wondering if in more advanced levels the RAngers are really "snipers" that that can take advantage of their superior experience in long range atacks.. because otherwise the Bow will be useless to me.. and they are not as "fast" as the manual says.. the REdBull that is in lake at the begining of the game very quickly gets me,if i run away.. THe game is so balanced that it can ruin the gameplay at least in the ROleplay part of the game. since it can make unrealtic the battles ,because almost all foes in the game can atack you at long ranges. Even Those that walk in 4 legs.

ANy chance the rangers can fire their arrows at greater distance at more advanced levels ? perhaps i know the asnwer..but still have some hopes.. :( Anyone with a well developed Ranger ?

Also.. It is possible to drop or switch your second proffession later if you dont like it ,without losing your abilities in the first?

the class suggestions might be great idea .. but damn i really wanted to be a warrior /ranger . :)

Only way to get more range is use a longbow (or any "long" bow) Shortbows and half moons have poor range but fire faster.

Yes, eventually you can change secondary classes... but it is near the "end" of the game (missions wise). You even keep your original secondary skills (IF you decide to switch back to that profession... you can't use them if you don't have the profession).

And warrior/monk is pretty good. Take damage and be able to res. But if you need some help, feel free to message me (I will be under either Klaus Barnabas, or Dr Tobias Funke).

wow...this game got ridiculous after going through the searing. I've been getting my ass kicked left and right. I need a better sword and armor, but I have no money to buy iron ingots (you can buy them, but only in sets of 10 for 2220 or so) or any of the other crafting stuff and I don't know where to find any of them.

And I just hate teaming up with random people. I don't know why, but I do.

You know that you can bring along henchmen right? They are computer controlled party members that you can pick. They are near the portal exit before you exit out of Ascalon City. Tip, don't take more than you need...they split your gold and your experience points aren't as high per kill as if you did it solo.

Yeah, that's the reason I didn't want to get the henchmen. When I had them before--when they were given to me right away--I wasn't getting anything for a kill they made. I have to make the kill in order to get any loot or XP for it.

Sigh.

Try taking just a monk (healer) with you. I believe that you still get XP regardless of who in the party makes the kill...just less XP than if you are solo. Gold is always divided evenly among party.

thought it would be the other way around.. sucking your targets blood.. not your blood.

blah, I got a response back from the dev team and said thats how they meant it to be..

so my main bow is basically usless right now, till i find a replacement string.

Well it's sucking your blood, hence Vampiric. Works for me.

thanks for the info.. interesting.. going to try it.. :)
I noticed that you dont need to be a RAnger ,neither a Necromancer or ELemental to use their weapons.. which is quite odd.. when you only have 1 profession. makes me wonder if the only benefit of other proffesions is their magic combos .

I already have 4 skills(the icons at the bottons with magic moves) but only 2 of them based around sword atacks alone.. which are extremely effective in battles. The sword is my favorite weapon.. so did you know if there are others special moves/skills that are just for the sword atacks? I asked for more training for the warrior, but the next training is for others weapons like Hammer.. which i dont like.. .. it looks more cool the warrior with a sword and a shield.. :) is there any way to continue training in the arts of sword fighting or perhaps this is ramdom and you need to finish the game to get more?

Maybe what i need is find guide book for the game.. that could explain the use of every weapon ,every skill and every item.. like a bible ..because it sucks to not know what are the purpose of some of your items/weapons and skills and combos that will best benefit you in your proffesion. i have big inventory and probably most of the things i have are useless. Right now collecting lots of IRON ,granite ,wood, stones and some other other materials just in case they migh be used in the future to build new armour or weapons.. diferent than customization.

a side note.. Here i included some screenshot of the game..
Guildwars have the nicest looking outdoors i have ever seen in a PC game.. :D the water in Farcry might be slighty better.. but the all around graphics are simply stunning..the Sky even have HDRish blooms also . :)

One of the coolest thing in the game is the so many ways you can equip your characters for protection and the near unlimited weapons availlable to choose.. :D but also even dress your character and paint them with your favorite colors if you find bottles of ink in your quest .. :)

http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/attachment.php?attachmentid=11580&stc=1

Notice there in the screenshot it only have 4 skills.. (icons) at the booton. but the last two are only availlable if you use the sword as your primary weapon. Will love to get more skills for the sword fights..alone.. if they are really good i might just stay as a single class proffesion alone.. Kick ass game.. :)

Ok.. I think found a killer list of all the skills people will have a chance to get in the game. It also explain what they do and are clasified for every weapon .... :)

http://www.guildwarsguru.com/skill.php

Here are the ..

Warrior skills..
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/skill/class/6-warrior

Monk
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/skill/class/3-monk

Elementalist..
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/skill/class/7-elementalist

and necromancer..
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/skill/class/4-necromancer

Use the site index and pick your character proffession..

To study all those skills not only will help you choose what proffesions are the right for you and what will be your abilities in the Roleplaying game ,but also to have a better idea of the tactics others Proffesions will use againts your in PvP.

Now all i need to know for the moment is where you can get all those skills in the game.. very cool . :)

Thats becouse you in noobie zone and items are low tech ! , once you advance they will require specific skill levels for them to be usefull.

No, he's got an Focus instead of a Sheild. I'm currently at Yak's Bend, lvl 12 W/El. Powerhouse of a DPSer. No healing though, so I need monk backup on the harder quests.

Also, the Charr in the Northlands Pre-Searing are beatable, me and a buddy went and cleared em out, including the lvl10ers that caused the searing in the first place. We got some nice drops too.

This game really needs a skills save setup, a simple option to store skills and revert to them in town with one click - eg, primary healer, fire, water, v undead etc. It's just a pain to swap skills then swap them back.

I dont have many skills.. just 6-7.. so no need to choose.. :)
however it is important the order at which you have placed your skills in the game ?

no.. except that it might just make more logical sense when you start reaching for those numbers to hit those skills.

nutcrackr, that wouldn't be a bad feature though.. I too am starting to amass a large amount of skills, and switching them around starts to be a pain.

Where did you get it? I'm a W/E 9 and I'm specializing in my hammer skills so far. My current hammer is 11-17 damage...fun to take on about six of the rock dudes at once. :)

I bought a standard 15-22 from somone online. I had a fire sword hilt [salvaged from a previous sword] that I then appiled to the sword thus making it do fire elemental damage instead of phyiscal damage. I figure this is better than using a fiery dragon sword since that thing gives away the fact you're doing elemental damage and is big flashing neon sign in pvp asking people to gangbang you.

Right now I'm looking for more upgrade component, namely 20% damage when health above 50 and extra armor.

this game is hard to do by yourself if your a elementalist....i've found some nice stuff but i'm kind of stuck right after the searing....i'm lvl 9....i did however find this purple hammer that does 13-20 dmg, armour piercing +1

I will really like to understand How can you upgrade your weapons or armour using salvage/crafting . i know that if you give in the city the craftman what he ask.. Rock+wood+gold .. the you will get the weapon. But people say that you can improve you weapons or amrmour using "modifiers" and "RUnes"..

CAn anyone explain ,me in detail this? ANy link that shows step by step how this work will be more than apreciated. THe manuals of this game are terrible.. There is so much things not explained and it looks that im not alone here.. because I ask others online ,and they also doesnt know how to Improve their weapons. How to get Modifiers or RUnes. Aparently read somewhere you can aslo "unlock" skills with some CHAR crafting materials.

So really really interesed to learn how to do this.. I understand that in Post searing levels (im still in pre-searing) all that salvage Wood/granite/paper/iron/steel will be used to create new armour .. So i already have TOns of Wood/paper/Irons .. In the North Wall whenver you kill chars ,they usually drop crafting materials..that have specs of ARmour 23 or so..and info that says (for crafting and upgrade weapons) but when i salvage the items, with my salvage kit ,the only thing i get is more of the same Squares/cloth/Iron etc.. i already have almost a hundred of each one.. dont need more..

Noticed that some items are undentified. ,when you use the identification kit , the info is upgraded with New abilities.. like (fast atacks ,improve swordmanship..etc) How to use that ? because the only thing my salvage kit do is destroy items in wood, paper, cloth and so on..

any help apreciatted :)

BTw.. i desperately need a new Bag.. have almost no room for anything.. i have the Backpack and "beltpouch" so if there anyway to carry more . in pre-searing let me know.

Basics of upgrading weapons/armor:

1) You need to Identifation Kit
2) Enemies will drop Blue, Puprle, or Gold items.
3) Use kits on these items to identify exactly what they are. Example, you identify a tribale blade that turns out to have Fire dmg and +4 armor against physical attacks. That means it has 2 upgrade components, the hilt which is giving the fire dmg, and the pommel which is adding +4 armor.
4) Use an EXPERT salvage kit to salvage the colored items.
5) Sometimes you'll get nothing, otherwise you can get 1 OF THE 2 upgrade items. Either the fire dmg hilt or the +4 pommel, it's random which you get.
6) Once salvaged you'll get an item called [example] fire dmg hilt, you can then click on this item and apply it to another weapon [as long as they are the same type, ie sword hilt only for swords] thus giving that weapon fire dmg.

As for getting new bags, not in pre-searing.

I suppose that the expert kit only exist in Post-searing :(

i have an item dropped by the Char that someone gave me ,, it says.

AXE FIEND ARMOUR of Minor Swordmanship
armour:20
Improve Swordmanship
value11
"Use salvage tools to produce crafting materials and upgrade components"

THe thing is that i dont know how to use that.. to "improve swordmanship" perhaps this is a hidden skill ?

if i use the salvage kit as the item suggest , the only thing i get is crafting material like Iron ,cloth. etc..

Interestingly used the identification kit , in anon indetified item this time. found by me ,with similar intructions.. and a window appeared with anew never seen SKill .. asking me to accept... by accident declined..: and never saw again the skill.. :( all this happened by just using the identification kit.

THen i used the salvage kit to see if i could recover the new skill again. And all i got was a crappy piece of cloth.. :thumbdwn:

So i will like to know how this works because it looks that you also can get SKills from items. it will be very nice if someone can help me with this. :)
