I saw those in this thread:

http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=49708

but I thought they were PC pics. So, these are confirmed as being from the PS3?

hmm yeah i saw these earlier too. i even went to the dev web page and my understanding was that it was for the pc...

Their website says they're currently developing games for PC, XBOX, PS2, GC. I don't see any special mention of PS3.

well this is what the original poster said over at the playstation forum incase anyone is too lazy to click the linky
From the SteelMonkeys website...not sure which system this is for though. If you google '2 Days to vegas' you will come up with their next gen game website there are some more screenshots and concept art.

additionally i just checked out the dev webpage again and as far as i can tell there is no information specific to which platform this is being developed for. the company does develope for all major platforms though. so unless somebody has some inside info that holds some weight i would say that its a little too early to be touting these as shots from any platform specifically...

according to that thread it is. it's on the playstation forum, so im assuming it's the PS3 version. cant be sure though the site doesnt specify where they came from.

pretty sure it was posted before

But, the guy that started the thread on the playstation forum said he didn't know what platform the pics are for (see the quote in the post above yours). So, unless someone added some "official" info later on in the thread, I don't think anyone knows which platform the pics are for.

Even if they are screenshots for PS3 or PC, we still have no idea if they are artist renderings, in game, etc...I would be blown away if they were legit in game pics though!

too much aa in there to be a real screenshot...not one jagged edge, i'll take these as artist renditions.

i've read the backgrounds are pre-rendered with real time characters in the foreground.

Yeah, this is like the third thread on this game. My understanding was that it was for PC.

Here's the game's website. Linky (http://www.steelmonkeys.com/eng/projects_eng.html)

And here's the original thread on this game. Linky (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=49708)

Eh, looking at the models, its impossible that they are in game. There arent any visible polygons on any of the car shots. Its possible that the people are real, but the cars... no. They are either renders or pre-pre-pre-pre-alpha test shots to show off some nice models that wont be playable in the final release.

Maybe I am SEVERELY underestimating the power of next-gen consoles, but I dont see how we can go from extremely obvious polygons on cars models to ZERO visible polygons in one generation of 3d graphics (in games).

To me it looks more like a technology demo for that game's graphics engine when used in a next gen console (& possibly PC) just like The Crytek's machinima & nV/ATi's Nalu & Ruby demos .
next gen consoles could be able to render such graphics like how a GeForce FX5900 can render Dusk & Dawn , but let you play them in realtime ? no freakin' way.

Pretty much the same thing happened in the jump from the PS1/Saturn/N64 era to the current one. We went from a couple hundred polygons for entire characters to models with thousands of polygons just on the character's face. Xenosaga's character models are made of around 20 times as many polygons as FF7's, and it manages to put more of them onscreen at once and with real-time 3d backgrounds.

Although, extremely obvious polygons on car models? Even in this generation I wouldn't say that's the case, I for one could easilly see the jump to the car models shown for this "next gen" game from this:

http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/attachment.php?attachmentid=11460&stc=1

Subdivide the model a couple times, add some better reflection/specularity and AA, and you end up with pretty much the exact same thing as what they're showing.

Yeah but remember that computers do alot more work than consoles do. You can compare the xbox version of doom3 with the pc version and notice that the difference ain't even that big, graphics wise. And the xbox is running at alot lower specs and at playable framerates. So if you think about how good the graphics in an xbox game can be, then consider that the xbox360 and ps3 will be much much better and faster, so those could even be ingame shots. But, then again, they don't look as if they are...I really believe and hope that games could even look that good with the xbox360 and ps3 :)

im almost certain that those are not ingame shots. especially the last couple that were posted. #1 way too many polys imo, but just for fun lets give everyone the benifit of doubt and say that next gen can render all those polys #2 there is radiosity and global lighting going on in most of those scenes and im sure everyone who knows even a little about radiosity and especially global illumination will agree that it is just not technically possible in real time with consumer hardware.

I smell concept renders.
