I picked it up several weeks ago when it first got released.
And I have to just say that it's probably one of the best gaming mice ever!
The software takes some getting used to, but I like how you can switch sensitivity during gameplay.

Just curious what others think of this new mouse?

Easily. This mouse combined with the Icemat and some Mouseskates is gaming heaven :D Oh yea, and a Saitek Eclipse keyboard :D

Meh. Not good enough to warrant an upgrade from a 510. At least for me.

I'm using a 510 at the moment also. I tried a friends 518 and it rocked! I am going to upgrade to a 518 because I want to test out this sensitivity on the fly thing. I use a low sensitivity when playing FPS games but I need a higher sensitivity when I'm sniping.

I have to admit at 1600 dpi, it's really too sensitive for most games!
I haven't tried it at this resolution for sniping, but it should be awesome!
I'm going to try 1600 dpi sniping in BFV tonight.

Higher DPI for sniping??? You want lower DPI for sniping. Higher DPI for quick games (quicker movement)

Wrong :D MX518 + Tweaks + QcK+ = Divine combo.

Speaking of MX518, Setpoint 2.3 build 546 (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/downloads/software/GB/EN,CRID=1792,contentid=10231) was just released on 5/5.

Can you run this on top of an existing SetPoint installation or is it better to uninstall/reinstall?

Yup, no need to uninstall the old one, it'll automatically update once you start installing the new version.

You might want a lower DPI for sniping but I need the faster movements while sniping :) I play FPS's with a normal sensitivity of 1 so trying to snipe with that low of a sensitivity is murder. Alot of picking up the mouse and repositioning it while sniping :)

A higher DPI would allow me to have greater sensitivity and I would be able to move easier.

So how does this compare to the mx 1000 ?

/me listens to the echo.

I like the design on the MX1000 better, and the tilt scroll is nice, but I think the MX518 is a more responsive mouse.

As for sniping, most people like lower DPI's for sniping, so you get greater accuracy when trying to pinpoint a headshot :)

So all in all, the mx518 is the best mouse for all AWP WH0ReS out there? :D

...that goes to you wshadow ;)

I don't care if the DPI is lower or higher just as long as it's easier for me to move around while scoped to find targets vs unscoped :)

Has anyone recently switched to this mouse from the Microsoft Intellimouse II (newer version)?

If so, how would you compare it?

Better question is Has anyone tried installing MX518 Drivers for other Logitech mice? All basically have the same button layout.

For me, I'm not giving up my MX1000 anytime soon. Not even for that pretty blue plasma mouse from Razor... :drooling:

I agree, I played America's Army Online with with my buddies MX518, and the switching to the lower DPI is awesome..
Just crank it up, when you get spotted and have to run.
it's awesome!
