oh man i dont know what to make of that name.... just doesnt roll off the tongue like radeon. hmmm now that i think of there there might be more to the renaming then just a simple renaming... i do remember reading that there driver team was creating a whole new framework for there next driver set.. this might be why there dropping the old name radeon
Like in Xavier...
Zayveon?
whatever!!
:D
Zayveon? ya i think thats how it would be pronounced
FWIW, and not getting into any NDA thingers, that rig, not including the name for the card, looks a lot like the gen 5 XPS system Dell had put together as its flagship d'top.
Obviously the current incarnation does not include some of the items in that list and some items look like they have been altered from the original specs. Probably why it was taken down in the first place, because of liberal interpretation and modification of specs?
/me shrugs
Do they have a "audigy3"?
Do they have a "audigy3"?
In development? Yes.
In release? No.
hmmm I thought they were gonan call the next round of Soundchips something else and not continue with the audigy name?
Its an incarnation yo. Heck we've been talking bout audigy 3 forever. I don't know what the internal name is. I only know the internal name for a coupla Intel procs and that too only on the server side :(
p.s. why are you not on IRC
i thought they were gonna still call it something new also considering its gonna be pci-express
FWIW, the attachment they have has some highly speculative components. It is not a final release to my knowledge.
Like I said, it looks a lot like one of the XPS gen-5 setups I saw before but with some available items replaced by speculative components.

i thiught they skipped 3 to got to the audio pro card audigy4 and then new sound DSP APU whatever and new name for PCIe as retsam said?
I have a feeling that the supposition of the site being taken down is simply to lend some form of credence.
The more I dbl check the specs, the more like b.s. that looks :D
The more I dbl check the specs, the more like b.s. that looks ya but it sure is fun speculating
It's fake! Believe me, although I cannot really prove it. ;)
I'm gonna save this post 'till R520 will be released. You'll see, I'm right :)

I don't think it's a bad name but I hate pr's infatuation with the letter X. btw this has been over at rage for a few days...
Not a bad name...actually it's a perfect name for ati's products, but what will they call lower and mid end versions? Like x600,x700, etc?
"Xaveon what? XT/Pro" or whatever ??
there should be a number or something to distinguish the high-end from the mainstream from the low-end.
how about just call it XXX XT
Yes, maybe they will call the lower end GPU's 'not so pro' and 'amatuer' right down to 'rookie'. Maybe even a 'n00b' edition.
Xaveon n00b u got pwnd! R0FL we pwn ur $mon3y$ now!1 Edition™

Quote from the Xaveon details page:
The Xaveon will be released in four flavors – Xaveon XT, Xaveon Pro, Xaveon, and Xaveon HD. ATI claims a consistent 60% to 95% increase in game performance with AMR, and a full 2.5x increase over two GeForce 6800 Ultras in SLI mode. The Xaveon HD of particular interest will ship at speeds slightly lower than the XT, but will include ATI’s unannounced Theatre 600HD chip – and that name says it all. The Xaveon series will be launched by other manufacturers at the same time.
Somehow I don't believe that there will be a 2.5x increase over 2 6800 ultras in SLI.
Don't believe the 2.5x increase. Last year ATI told me that teh x800xt would be nearly twice as fast as a 6800 Ultra. Complete B.S. I know better now than to believe any marketing.
