View Full Version : Guildwars Woes... Crashing my PC

Hi I have a pretty nice system (Alienware Extreme 5500) and I can only play the game for about 5 minutes when the game crashes and the screen shows corrupted graphics. Many times the corrupted mouse can move around and other times it just locks up. Still have to do a hard restart everytime. I have the latest drivers for my Nvidea 6800 gt then I got an older version of my drivers that my PC company reccomends, same problem either way.
Any help would be much appreciated, not many stores are keen on refunding open software...All programs running in the background are turned off I even disabled my firewall and antivirus for to see if that was it. Same problem...

it doesnt happen on other games:
Neverwinter Nights
GTA:Vice City

It crashes in all resolutions and redraw rates and i even set the graphics to the lowest setting and knocked thown the hardware acceleration to the middle setting..

I have had similar issues with my machine and my wife's machine playing Guildwars. Neither machine is overclocked, graphics or CPU wise. So far, I believe that the 66.93's have worked the best for me. I think there may be an ATi bug in the game, as you'll notice in your retail box an advert for ATi. Blah!

Another thing I have done that sometimes helps is when I first start seeing glitches, I'll minimze the game or drop to a window for a few seconds and it seems to clear up.

77.30s works good for me , nothing overclocked thought.

71.89 worked great for me. currently using 76.45 and working fine (but havent tested it with long hours of gameplay). GPU not clocked, but CPU clocked. GPU & CPU temps are normal load temps.

I WAS using 77.13 but it kept rebooting my system on exit & gave random bsod relating to nv4 DLL.

I have number of hours in GW first using 71.89, then 77.13, and now 77.30 and did not experience any problems with those drivers except I did get booted to the desktop once with the 77.13's.
