Does your 6600GT have a DVI output?
Does your HDTV have a DVI input?
Do you have a DVI cable?

I run a dvi on my mitsu 42 inch HDTV (also not for "computers") and its fine. They just say that becasue they dont want people leaving their desktop on all the time and burning into the screen. Its the same type of signal as a dvd player etc. So just only use it when your watching a movie or playing a game and your fine. A DVD player is just bacially a specialized computer so I dont think it can actuallly void your warranty.
