Running equipment in my sig.

Initially, I was running at
250fsb 1:1 with memory with a cpu multi of 10.5 and a HTT multi of 4. I had memory timings of 2.5-3-3-6. and my cpu speed was around 2625mhz

I thought I was running my memory at 250mhz but many people told me that with a 10.5 cpus multi, that actually lowers your mem. speed down to the 230s. Most people told be to run with whole number multis... so I experimented.

If I lower the mem. divider to 2:3 I can run my memory at right around 200mhz with timings of 2-2-2-5 and a cpu speed around 2790... this is stable and gave me a boost of about 100 points over my original 13800 points in 3dmark 03.

Then, I upped the mem. divider to 5:6 and I could run my mem at 230mhz with timings of 2.5-3-3-6 and a cpu speed around 2800mhz.... this is stable and gave me a boost of almost another 100 points in the 3dmark 03... I'm now getting about 13990.

What I discovered, is even though my memory is rated at at 275 mhz, for some reason I don't have a stable system with memory timings above 233mhz (even with loose timings). I now know my chip isn't the limiting factor, as it can run all the way up to 2850 if the mem speed is lower than 230mhz.

So, is it the memory controller on the San Diego that has trouble with speeds above 230mhz for my mem? Is it the nforce4 ultra?? I can get into windows with speeds above 230mhz, but prime fails, I get internet browser problems like crazy, and occasionally I get the BSOD....

Has anyone else been experiencing this 230mhz cut off ?

So,

I updated to the 1004.002 beta bios for the A8N-E .

I also started experimenting with 2T memory timings.

With 2T timings, I can clock my memory to 275mhz and my cpu to 2.75ghz 1:1. I'll try to push this a little further!!

It seems like either the new SD cores or NF4 or something has a problem with 1T mem speeds above 230mhz. This was reported over in anandtech by other people...

Then again, there's this big debate on the real world difference between 1T and 2T....

I've been told it's as much as a 30% difference between the two, but I don't know if I believe that.

But the only reason I question the validity is because I don't really know what 1T and 2T mean. Heh.

Yeah, me either....

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT 1T and 2T MEAN???????

ANYONE????....
