Awesome. Nvidia isn't waiting up for ATI to get thier AMR straight.
Says it will debut in Q3, so it looks like the autum rumors were right =) I better start saving.

Come on PS3 core, I sure hope it uses this part.

Expect something more powerful than G70.
G70 is a 110 nm part, PS3 GPU is a 90 nm part ;)
The CEO of NVIDIA said that we might even see the next-gen GPU at E3 next week!

That would rule! I'd love to get some specs/real-world testing of it done. I'm really excited about E3 now.
DAMN YOU jAk!
That's great to hear. Hopefully, it'll rock and ATi will be oWned =)

No. The G70 is not the Next-Gen, it's the REFRESH [ie, NV40 with more quads]. The one we didn't have last year. The PS3 core is the Next-Gen chip.

How you do know? am I missing some news here?

In practice yes G70 is the next-gen gpu, not just a refresh, but it isn't either a totally new architecture like ps3 gpu will be. I think G70 will support WGF1.0 which is said to be an extended version of dx9c, the desktop gpu based on the ps3 one will hit the stores in 2006 and it should support WGF2.0.

Sooo...PS3 NOT using G70??
I guess its possible, Xbox was announced when we still had the NV15...heck...Xbox demo'd on NV15 before GeForce2 was announced...I guess it's a possibility.
Man this refrsh part has been running for ages...it's about time
so g70 is just a refresh?! whats the next gen called? nv50?

How do you know G70 is not just a refresh?
How do you know PS2 GPU is a totally new architecture?

On WinHec there was some new info, I've read some articles about it and there will be an updated API before LongHorn which is WGF 1.0 and it's basically dx9c with some new features. Since LongHorn and WGF2.0 will be released in 2H 2006, ATi and nVidia will release gpu's on that timeframe supporting the new API . So WGF1.0 gpu's will have to be G70 and R520.
Note that I'm just speculating and I really don't know if ps3 gpu is G70 based or G80 based, but since we'll have a gpu revolution in 2006 and consoles cycle time is about 4 years, it would make more sense that ps3 had a more advanced gpu.

No. The G70 is not the Next-Gen, it's the REFRESH [ie, NV40 with more quads]Full agreement. The G70 is what used to be called NV47. Funny: The INQ printed the leak about a G70 codename within hours of the internal NVIDIA name change, but INQ didn't get the whole story right--they still insist G70 is not NV47, but instead a new NV50 architecture. I mean, who can you trust any more if not Fudo? *sigh*
How do you know G70 is not just a refresh? If I told you, the head of the NVIDIA secret police would have to kill us. Hi Phil!

i think that the g70 will be a newish (still have some things borrowed) design and not a refresh. they couldve easily had a refresh of the 6800 months ago. i think they decided against it a while back. thats one good thing about SLI- it gave nvidia some time. i expect the g70 to be made on 110mn, also i doubt that we will see a refresh of that part as well--- next year on the 90nm proccess we should get something similar to the ps3 gpu, think g70 but much more improved.--------------i have no basis on all this information---its a pure guess on my part:)
