I'm getting a "HD" VGA box for my monitor and XBOX 360 (obviously when I get it).

I'll be getting one hopefully before the end of the year. I really want the DLP TV we have at work. 54 inches, clear as a bell. We have it connected to an Athlon XP3500+ 939/6800GT right now at work. Only $1999 right now too...**Thinks about financing** :P

Does a monitor count? :p My 2070SB can run Hi-Def resolutions with no hitch. I dont plan on getting a HDTV but I do plan on getting a Dell 2405 which I will use with my AIW X800 XT as poor mans alternative.

MS says "every" new game for the XBox360 will run in HD at 720p and 1080i, full anti-aliasing.

I have a sony 36'' HDTV I'm thinking about getting an xbox 360. I don't own any curent gen consoles, but if the xbox 360 is all it's cracked up to be I will be buying one.

Cool, very nice to hear that. So console resolution is now finally catching up to PCs.

I've have had an HDTV for a few years now also. Does anyone know that if a game is made for 720P will the new XBox scale it to 480P or 1080I if an HDTV will not display 720P? My 47 inch Panasonic will only display 480i, 480P and 1080i. I never tried a 720P title on the first generation XBox so I don't know what it did either.

From IGN XBox 360 FAQ
What about standard analog 4:3 TV owners?
Analog TV owners needn't fret. 480i will continue to be a supported output resolution; it would be suicide not to have it. But even when playing on a 4:3 display, games will run in widescreen by default, though gamers will have the option to switch to 4:3 should they so choose. Designers are very much encouraged to design their games so that they're playable in a 4:3 ratio, with dialog text, HUDs and those sorts of things appearing properly at 4:3.

I know some really suck (played Halo on one that sucked) but my neigher just got a wicked little mitsubishi DLP, and that thing is awesome. That'll be my next "T.V". I love the super tight clarity and contrast of my XBR, the largest Hi-Def CRT ever manufactured, but it's still nowhere near the size you can get out of a projector.

I just bought an HDTV last week. Blew my whole paycheck on it, like an idiot. Now I'm starving. I don't even watch TV, just got it for gaming. I can now actually read the text when I play my RPG's! Can't wait till I get paid next friday so I can get the component cables for my PS2...and some food hehe. The things I do for games...

I think I heard that Grand Turismo 4 is the only ps2 game that does 1080i. Anybody have GT4 and an HDTV? Is it worth getting?

Also, is it worth getting a component cable for the Gamecube? I don't know anything about it's progressive scan capability.

I hope those next-gen consoles come with the component cables included..or maybe even a DVI hookup. 30$ for the ps2 component cables is rediculous!

What!? I don't get it. So you put up with the letter box look instead of getting a 1:9 set?

DUDE! go get ur self a wide screen! I bought mine a few years ago for movie watching. I could care less if regular TV programs are streched a bit. I just want it to be a great set for movies. Now that the new xbox is gonna have higher rez games it will be nice.

I had a couple of 1080i games for xbox and they look great. Just remember to turn on 720p and 1080i in your dash board on the xbox so you can actually use it. :D

Yeah, Its a nice system. I was playing God of War at 480p at 70" :D

I only got it recently though so I haven't fully tested it. It's in the living room so my PC can't hook up to it..... yet.
