Thermalright XP-90C (http://www.nvnews.net/reviews/thermalright_xp90c/)

Rytr's latest review is of the Thermalright XP-90C. It's a solid copper version of the XP-90. Check it out and see if it would be a good fit for your cooling needs.

I thought there were some people around here that were looking forward to this XP-90C review. Is everyone just camping out in the E3 threads? :D

Great review Rytr. I was meaning to get one of these not for OC'ing even though that would be the obvious but to have a quite case. The stock A64 CPU fans or the loudest things in my cases? Can this monster be used without a fan?

I did not try it without a fan on the Prescott but I did try a 80mm SilenX fan. This fan produces only 14 dBA which is about as quiet as you can get with a fan. It cooled about as well as the stock Intel HSF for the short time I ran it. A low rpm 92mm fan such as a Panaflo L1A or M1A would be a better choice.

On my AMD 3400+ I use the all aluminum XP-90 and max temps stay around 50C with a 92mm Panaflo M1A, 48 CFM, 30 dBA. It does a good job on a moderately overclocked processor running at 2310 MHz. I believe even a Panaflo L1A might be a good choice...definitely for noise reduction.

I, for one, was looking forward to an nvnews XP-90C review.

I have the XP-120 right now, but I can't use it because my case is too small. I should be getting an Antec P-160 within a week or so, which will solve the space problems. I only have one 120mm fan (Panaflo Ultra Highspeed fan) which is too loud, but I'll still try and see how it cools my P4 3.0E GHz processor in this hot Indian summer weather. I'm getting quieter fans soon. Is there any way I can run that fan at a slower speed? I could probably use Speedfan in Windows. I wonder if I can manually control fan speeds in Linux as well. H'm...

I'm also getting an XP-90C and a Zalman CNPS7700-Cu. It'll be fun to test them all out... I'll keep the quietest setup and probably sell the rest on ebay.

Unfortunately, it'll take a while before I can get my hands on all three of these coolers since they have to arrive all the way from the USA and clear customs offices and what not. :-\

I just discovered the wonder that's known to mortals as Zalman's fanmate2! :D

I'll be sure to get some of these. :D

Thanks. I will be ordering one with one of those fans you mention.
