During conventions, and when product roundups are around the corner, and when 'da man speaketh, it's neat to see some community crossover here and then.

I guess Kombatant can breath a bit more freely since he's not being badgered about linux anymore ;)

Awesome interview guys!

How old is Tim? He looked a lot younger than I expected.

I couldn't understand one word...My English :(

Anyway: It says nothing when Tim prefers G70. Doesn't he have a deal with Nvidia?

That sounds like a rage3d statement lol. Nah I dunno....doug lombardi said both cores were about the same, so who knows.

Ok who said woohoo at the end of the interview ?? :D

as for the G70 vs R520 question .. he seemed to be surprised at that question .. i bet he didnt see that question coming :p
wether he have a deal with nVIDIA or his answer was influenced by the nvnews word on Jak's shirt ;).. thats a different matter , but its good to see him actually commenting on the next gen GPUs or confirming them at least . i thought he simply would not answer this question.

anyway good interview Jak & Rob .. nice work

I found it quite hard to understand what you guys were saying. A transcript would be very appreciated!

Thanks!

Best regards

Other than the first few seconds, I was able to understand the entire interview using headphones.

Since I live in Sweden my English isn't 100% perfect. I would probably understand about 99% of the interview if I only could hear it a bit better :)

Some seem to think that he chose the G70 over the R520 because he is on the TWIMTBP payroll.

What do you guys think?

I had no idea what Tim Sweeny looked like.

Yes and no. Yes I think he said it because he has a TWIMTBP contract with nVidia but also due to the fact that the G70 probably is better than R520. Does anyone know if the DICE devs have done any interviews regarding G70 vs R520? I'd love to hear what they have to say since BF2 will likely be the game I play for the next 2 years.

He looks smart, as expected. Based on the interview he seems a lot less ****y and more accessible than say John Carmack.

What does looks and ****y have to do with each other? I thought ****y was personality based, not look based?

He definetely is a very nice guy, and he seemed suprised when I asked for his autograph :) Same with Ed Boon.

Tim Sweeney just emailed me a few minutes ago saying how he was glad we finally met :) What an awesome guy.

Something that helped me filter the sound, was to set your gaphic equalizer to basically filter everything else out except the speech area.. about the 2 khz or so range..

Yeah, that was very cool of him.

So, what's the deal with 64-bit gaming? When the 64-bit patch for Far Cry came out, a lot of people were saying that the extra detail and stuff could have been done in 32-bit just as well. In this interview, Tim mentioned going 64-bit would allow them to add more detail and stuff as well. So, why is that?

I'd say yes and no as well. Don't think he was influenced by Jacob's nvnews shirt.

Yes because JC always is too ****y in his predictions and his work and he's always wrong...

Tim is more accessable because maybe he has time to answer questions? I've had quite a few correspondences with JC and he doesn't do a lot of interviews, simply because he doesn't like doing them, not because he's being an egotistical prick or something. He seems quite happy to answer my questions when he can.

Anyway, good interview Jakup! Interesting how HLSL/Cg code could be that efficient. It makes me wonder why JC's next engine will be completely assembly based? Perhaps he just wants more specific control like the offline guys.

Poor Sweeney, every elitist on B3D now has him on theํr hate list.
What a sad bunch. When are they gonna start enjoying life and not take everthing so damn seriously?
