People have too much time on thier hands..
Yes, and not a lot of brain in their heads :D
Poor Sweeney, every elitist on B3D now has him on theํr hate list.
What a sad bunch. When are they gonna start enjoying life and not take everthing so damn seriously?
The answer for thier claims would be simple .. why didnt they try to interview him instead of whining about it ? i believe he would be glad to answer questions for either sides.

...
He looks smart, as expected. Based on the interview he seems a lot less ****y and more accessible than say John Carmack.
JC is writing gaming engines, designing and building rockets for travel into space, writing proposals for NASA contracts and is a new father. I can understand why he seems less then easily approachable or preoccupied.

I thought B3D = rage3d, favorite hangout place for fanatics. So I wouldn't surprise about their reaction.
Great job fellas! Interesting info about G70 and R520... I guess we'll know for sure soon enough.

I always liked Sweeney. Very laidback guy, and he tries to answer everyone if he can. He deserves all the props he gets, and I hope every one of those folks bashing him is just green with envy for jakup for gettin to shoot the breeze w/him :D
Rofl...like A billion dollar company with Jen Hsung and co. sit in a meeting @ Nvidia devising an evil scheme to have Tim Sweeny push an nvidia product in an amatuer video ( no offense ) for a forum site that has access to sending it across the internet and into the hard drives of enthusiasts on forums everywhere! Man that's hilarious, people will complain whenever they feel a bit of doubt in what they live for I guess.
I don't see why people would bash a guy for his opinion. That's just dumb. Sweeny took time out of his schedule to do an interview for a fan, not a site pushing nvidia. Yes this is an nvidia site, but had someone from another forum actually had tickets to e3 and the common sense to ask for an interview, they would have gotten one too. He's showing respect to the community by doing things like this...it's not to push nvidia products....if anything it's to push their own!!

It's just their true color showing and not very surprising.
Wat if the guyz frm R3d had interviewd Sweeney, and asked him the question "R520 or G70?", and he'd reply G70...
Ah..The xpression on teh face of the inerviewer..awww..priceless.
P.S, i prefer Coke. Pepsi is too sweet comapred to coke
I prefer Pepsi over Coke too .. thats one more thing i have in common with Tim :p

Nah, Rage is a much more relaxed place. Make a little joke about ATI on B3D and you get death threats for crying out loud. :D
I like both, sometimes on a hot day I can go for pepsi, other days coke. Sometimes that sweetness of pepsi draws me in and sometimes it chases me away.

most boring interview ever.
typical nerd: *grins evilly and taps fingertips together* "Will it support pixel shaders 2.0, g-hey?"
How dare they!? :surrender :spank:

Just a thought - considering how much discussion this interview is causing over at B3D regarding developer objectivity, and the possible flippancy of the answer, maybe it would pay for someone in the know to actually contact Mr. Sweeney, direct him to the pertinent threads, and give him a kind of 'right of reply'. Things like this where people rant and rave on both sides of the tracks without any kind of fair chance for response from the person who actually made the statement has always seemed sort of unfair to me. Ahh well, I'm sure all will come clear in time.
Edit: Of course I'm aware he'll be under hundreds of NDA agreements, but I more meant so that he can reply to accusations, and give a non-revealing opinion (not necessarily on the actual relative power's of graphics cards - more to the 'truth' of his answer, and the possibilities for devs to have some kind of 'objectivity') on the general status of what people think of the interview.
Some folks really show their hand at times like this. I'd love to see how some would react if the conversation had gone like this:Freeman: Okay, one more question: R520 or G70?*
Sweeney: [laughs] Oh, R520 for sure.
Freeman: Okay, thanks a lot.
Sweeney: Thank you.Oh well, it's amusing to see people get so bent out of shape about things like this. :D

Oh don't think that tim doesn't already know about these discussions were having about what he said. Also on a personal note, people have the right of choice outside of their business life. And for people to make such a big stink over this is silly. But if we look back to valves support of the ati cards we can somewhat see the same type of responses from our side, although not as evil in nature. Alot of people here did scream foul when valve en co supported ati over nvidia. At the same time valve did say alot of very bad things about the nvidia cards.
I don't think tim nor valve have to defend themselves. They are gamers like us and they have their preferences, and the right to pick them. So long as the games are to spec, both cards will run them well. So i could careless what card gabe newell is playing tf2 without me on =((( :cries

I think that if Tim had said r520 to someone wearing an nvnews t-shirt you would know that the G70 was really bad, but for him to say G70 is best tells you nothing. It might be true, but how can you tell ?
It's more than likely that r520 and G70 will be similar in performance. I am hoping G70 is slightly faster due to my nvidia bias and to shut WaltC and Hellbinder up :D

Andy
I'm actually suprised he even answered. To be honost, I expected him to not answer that one... I just asked it just for the hell of it :D
I tried to get something out of the guy's who were showing the Alan Wake demo, and they wouldn't tell a thing.

Rage3D > B3D
Rage is a lot more relaxed. You would be suprised at how many Rage members have 6800GT's in there comps. ;)

We are pretty level headed here too...I can remember when almost everyone here was running a 9800 PRO :)
