Thanks to egbtmagus (who stood in a very long line to see this ;)) We have pics that he took in person of the PS3. Sony also had a presentation, but its the same as the Press Release.

I love it

Microsoft went for concave, Sony went for convex. Talk about rivalry...

First thing I think of when seeing the console, are the old BETA VCRs from the early 80s. Straight up fugly with a bunch of curves in a shiney case. And yes, that controller looks like some bent double dildo :D

Nevertheless, thanks for standing in that LONG ass line to get photos.

Well, thank egbtmagus :) He flew all the way from Florida, and met us at E3. (He is a really cool guy) He stood in a really long line to see these PS3 videos. He is leaving from LA tommorrow, so you won't see him around here till Monday or so. He has a ton of good pics as well :)

Yep, it's an ugly system. Yet somehow I can't wait to have it.... I wonder why?

I wonder if my ps2 controllers will work with it [my ps1 controllers work with my ps2]. Either way I'm sure someone will make a ps2 repilica controller for the ps3 and I'll buy it, I don't like the austrialian vibe of this new one.

Damn they gotta stick with the orignal PS2 controller thats the best one ever.. that one just looks like something dragged the plastic a little to far. why so tall ?

While I agree that the new controller doesn't "look" very nice, I do think it will be a better controller.

The analog sticks are a little smaller and dont seem to stick out so much. This means your thumb isnt quite stretched as much leaving your hand overall more relaxed. They also look a little closer to where the d-pad is and X,Circle,Tri,Square.

The X, Circle, Tri, Square now have that plastic jewel look that the XBOX controllers have, though they are not stupidly egg-shaped or anything. Hopefully this means the pressure response will feel more direct with less travel in "dead-space" before you get those 256 levels or whatever. I cant say that for sure but I hope that is what they are/were aiming for with that design.

The handles are a little longer. This is probably better for people with bigger hands while offering little to no disadvantage to those of us with small hands.

The only thing I hope is that with the battery the thing is weighted properly. I'd hate it if it had a heavy battery pack at the top or the bottom, which messed with the balance and probably hurt your wrists in time.

I dont really know about the shoulders. It would have been nice to have triggers like the XBOX maybe, but I always think how they are only useful in certain games like car games. I actually prefer normal digital shoulder buttons for FPS.

Well thats my opinion on them anyway. No way of knowing until I play with them, and I could be totally wrong. I might hate the analog sticks, and the face buttons may feel even less responsive than before.
