my wife and i have been watching the playoffs, and thanks the the wonderful invention that is the TiVO, we have been replaying things during games that the networks dont replay.

so we have been looking at how many steps players take on their way to the basket.

oh my god... i think everyone travels! is it just me or is the official rule on traveling (2 steps from the pivot foot) more like a suggestion or a guideline than a rule? i cannot believe the refs have stopped looking at the feet! that is why the number of great shot blockers has gone down so much. there is no way to jump for a block on someone when he has the chance to just walk around the lane. when traveling was an call that the refs made.. we had hakeem and ewing and mutumbo and so may others that would thrill us with blcks into the seats! now.. anyone can just trot up and down the key, so noone gets bliocks anymore.

oh well..

they seem to be able to take as many steps as they want. travelling is not called as often as it should be.

Watch Tony Parker next time he plays, or for that matter Steve Nash.

Little guys like that who are fast get away with travelling the most. Them and the "super stars" because everyone jknows we want to be able to see them slam and stuff.

Its been going on for a while, started way back in the first superstar days with magic/bird/jordan. It's just worse now.

Most players with amazing moves usually take 3-4 steps easily AFTER planting pivot.

Michael Jordan used to have this little spin move he does, that I knew was travelling. When I did it in some of the circle I go to, it was called travelling. I guess if I'm not making 20 million dollars, it's travelling.
