This interview was as good as the one with Sweeney. Great questions on your part and nice camera work as usual. :thumbsup:

i noticed that the guy showing off ageia talked alot about particles and physics but i couldnt determine what PPU actually stands for. is it a physics processing unit, particle processing unit...what is it? amazing stuff!

Clay

PPU = Physics Processing Unit

I think he was stressing particles because of the fact that in their current drivers (at the time of E3) they are only capable of a few hundred particles per (object? stream? not sure exactly) but they are on the verge of having the capability of tens of thousands of particles. So, I think he just wanted to stress that so that people would know that what they were seeing in the first real-time demos he was showing were only the tip of the iceberg. The other demos were videos of their current developmental drivers that are capable of the huge increase in particles...that's where he said that, in real-time, those only run at about 2 frames per second right now.

Correct me if I'm wrong jAkUp and the rest of you that were actually there. :)

Is it me or does Tim Sweeny kinda look like Kip from Napolean Dynamite?

I wonder if you could photon map using the PPU... I mean.. Photon mapping is basically particle calculations... that'd be awesome. And kinda funny.

The UE3 Tech demo seems to run perfectly smooth... Is it on a Single 6800GT/U?
The engine itself is amazing, btw.
