Check this demo out :) I still have an interview to get uploaded too.. heh. I have plenty more of these too. Shows off what is capable with the PPU. Real time water effects!

(right click save as) It is a bink video.

EDIT:
Here is our interview with the PPU guy's

Real time water was done in the Meqon demos.

All the PhysX videos I've found so far:

http://personal.inet.fi/atk/kjh2348fs/ageia_physx.html

2 separate videos + a 107MB Bink video ZIP from GameSpot.

I think "PhysX_carwash_fog.exe" + the side_by_side.wmv video are the best, though they do not show nearly all what the chip is capable of when used properly.

X-bit labs is reporting that AGEIA PhysX add-in card will be available in Q4 and will be priced between $249 and $299.

Yup, the guy I talked to said December. Here is some of the info I got from the discussion with the guy:

Heres a few more facts from the interview...
-No use yet for anything other than gaming (may add in future)
-the card will start shipping in December
-may be integrated in graphics cards in the future
-$249-$300 intro price
-only 1 model at launch
-games will eventually require hardware based card
-the cards bandwith exceeds that which can be put through a PCI bus
-the PCI and PCIe cards will be seperate

Ouch, $250 to $300? That's a pretty high price for a card that will ONLY help in certain games. It's a nice idea, but it probably won't catch on until it's integrated into other components. Otherwise, seems like a pricey upgrade...pretty soon we'll be going "Hmm, do I want a new video card, a new console, or a physics card...". I just hope that if it does catch on, it won't need to be upgraded in the future. A $250 investment now *might* be worth it if you never need to buy another one ever again, but the prospect of needing to buy a new physics card every 2-3 years like videocards is a scary thought.

And that list is a little suspicious...Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders?!? I don't even think that game is being ported to the PC (at least I haven't heard anything about it), and I can't understand how it would even use it since the Xbox version didn't have any complex physics to begin with (unless they're just adding ragdolls to all the dead bodies...but I'm not even sure how good that would look).

I'm kind of hoping that that 250 mark will actually be a 'high end' physics card, and that they'll then (later) release budget oriented ones... Kind of a 6200 of physics cards.

i feel once CPUs have enough cores, there'll be no more need for PPU.

The real game demo they showed didn't particularly have any major improvements over physics stuff that HL2 did
The particles look cool sure, but I am not paying that price for a few particles. :nono:

I think that would be a waste of power. Personally if a PPU is available I'd rather see the extra cores devoted to more complex AI, etc.

And This
Tecmo should make a special DOA(X) game using the PPU to demonstrate extremely complicated boob wobbling.

Actually from what i understand the hardware itself can be coded to do whatever the software developer wants. Not just physics, but also particles/particle physics, ai, skeletal animation etc etc facial animation etc.

I second that notion.

OOOoooohh man that would be sick :drooling::drooling:

I would never be leaving my console if that were the case :luv::luv:

Am I the only one that can't get the AGEIA real-time water video to play? It downloads fine but whenever I double-click the file a windows opens for a split second then closes.

Jakup wanted to ask the Ageia guys about breast physics, but I wouldnt let him...we needed to be professional for NVnews...But I bet he did have a hard on when he interviewed Sweeney...ROFL...JK Jak...

No that will never gonna happen, AGEIA demorated (http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=23468) the PPU, it rendered 40,000 rigid bodies on the screen at a time, dual core CPUs can rendered just a few hundreds rigid bodies, it will never catch up with PPU.

Its deja-VOODOO all over again.

Yeah, I won't be getting one untill most games take advantage of it. Kinda sucks that Havok and other engines aren't using it...

Its a bit expensive, but the price might fall once more manufacturers put out boards, and then there will prolly be cheaper versions with less RAM on them.
Once its mainstream enough, they might even put budget solutions on motherboards.

that may be true,.. but games look great already. heck, even in the games where there are lots of "pre-rendered" physics.. like painkiller and HL2, i dont notice. sure, the ppu might make it realtime, but i am all about game play. i dont care if a box "pre-rendered"-ly or realtime-ly explodes. as long as it looks nice.

i promise i wont notice the difference if the ppu makes it a random shattering.
