View Full Version : Best Barebones system?
I was thinking of getting a barebones system to start building from, I'd need one that supports AMD 939 and pci express. Could I get some recommendations? Also, would it be cheaper to just buy the motherboard and case seperately to build a new system?

I would buy them separate so you know your getting quality unless your going for something like a shuttle . Whats your price range?
For mobos I like ASUS for features, ease and reliability so I would recommend any of these two.
For cases its really what you think looks nice and weather you need a cool well ventilated one if you plan on ocing. This all in one Antec is pretty good for the price. It's quite, sturdy, looks good and has drive rails and a strong PSU.
hmm, I was thinking sub $1000 range (don't need a monitor)
what do you think of this one? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813152049

That looks like great mobo that would do the job. Being that you have about $1000 to spend you really can build a great to of the line system. Let me know if you need advise on teh rest of the parts. Currently building another pc myself.

[H]ard|OCP just did an article about building a PC with $1000.
It's a really good one too. Might want to check it out here (http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=NzY5)
Ah yea, this article would probably come in handy thx. If possible though I'd actually like to spend less than the 1k budget though, especially on the graphics card. I am thinking of getting something middle of the line, just to hold myself over for two generations. Because it seems like the next nvidia or ati card will be significantly more powerful and different architecturally( with the release of xbox 360 + ps3 and all). Also, if your interested anandtech.com has a similar article up with different suggestions, I'm mainly looking at their midrange system parts.
edit: this is probably not a question you see much but could someone recommend a sub 100 video card? I was looking at the x600, is that better than a 9600 ?
