So, I did not experience the 2D slowdown so far. Perhaps because I only use ion as an WM and only multig-gnome-terminals and phoenix.

BTW. Is it normal that /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/status reports a KT266 agp bridge on an SOYO Dragon Ultra KT333?
What agp support is better for this chipset? nvidia's chrashed this morning, 3123 with kernel roughly once a day, will today try kernel's agp with 4191....

I am running the 3123 drivers on a KT333 chipset with no problems at all, using agpgart. That's a standard kernel 2.4.19, from kernel.org.

/proc/driver/nvidia/status does report a KT266 chipset for my KT333 as well. I think that's just because (1) they act so much the same as far as the buses go, and (2) the PCI ID of the north bridge chip is still the same, AFAICT. So the kernel (which identifies as many of your devices as possible by PCI ID) can't tell the difference anyway. It's no problem, in any case.

Which kernel do you have that's crashing?

Ah, all right. No I am sure they have the same PCI id, thats indeed no Problem.

3123 crashed with every kernel I used, 2.4.19-prex-acx, 2.4.20-prex-acx and now I use 2.4.20-ac1.

As said, once a day or less.

I used the preempt patch, I think NVdriver didn't like it, so I am testing without for a week now.

And now I switched to kernel AGP. No crash so far...

... puzzling...

Thats weird! If you said not using preempt patch the thing was clear....
Today it crashed with kernel AGP. The Mouse gets laggy, virtual desktops didn't move, then, within two seconds freeze. With moving mouse pointer, even across the monitors. *lol*
Do you use more than one Monitor?

No, I don't use 2 monitors, actually. So that is a difference...

Does 4191's NvAgp AGP driver work, or was that one of the things you've tried already?

Aha, that might be _the_ difference...
damn!

Would it be possible to give up your second monitor for a short time, to see if it stabilizes it? I can't get another one, so ... yeah.

All right, only used one yesterday and it crashed too. But the crash is different than the one of the 3123 drivers.

But same if one or two monitors are used...

With 4191 the screen and computer (music stops) locks up in a weird pixel mess on screen...
