Is it just me or does this seem like a flop to anyone else?
For the record Ive been critical of the pics Ive seen of the GF FX heatpipe as well...and to be fair this one looks worse.

It looks like some kind of frankenstein monster for crying out loud.

I love ATI products as much as anyone...but to throw that huge ass heatpipe solution on the thing..to only get about 12mhz on the core??(i think the review at firing squad noted the OC stable speed to be around 337ish?)

Seems weak, seeing how the core starts at 325 anyway. Im sure with my standard 9700 i could get 337 on the core without that rediculous, slot wasting contraption.

I dont know...just expected a higher OC gain when i saw the card.

I thought that thing does not have a fan thus making it a very quiet card...maybe thats the angle they are trying to go...

Didnt miss it. That one is said to run guranteed around 400MHZ...so Id not call that a flop....the Atlantis running at 337 fails to impress.

True they could be going just for the quiet factor...though Im willing to bet that the people who would buy this card more than likely have a bunch of case fans already in their system..making quiet operation hard to attain. Could be wrong though.

thats a good point, they cant expect many sales to the average retail store person, they're marketing these super overclocking cards to people like us. People who know about OCing, cooling, case mods, etc. I wouldnt expect OCSystems or Sapphire to sell many of those super clocker cards in Best Buy. Most people go for things like the cheapo Ti4200 or even the older R9000.

That OCSystems card is pretty damn impressive though I must say, but ya I think the Sapphire is a flop, because 344/344 for such a HUGE hunk of metal poluting your case window? No thanks :D :p
