View Full Version : Nvidia starts working on SLI 2
http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=23593
As you know SLI, has been around for a few quarters now and Nvidia is working to improve this marchitecture. One of the teams was working to get some better silicon at the same time and that’s what we believe is going to be called SLI2.
We learned that Nvidia is working on a motherboard that will have more PCIe lanes and might actually get close to two times 16 PCIe lanes, the ultimate for PCIe graphic cards in SLI mode.

Will it ever stop?!? :drooling:
I'm wondering the same :) Ok, so we got the hardware, bring on UE3!!
I smell Crossfire 2 in the way as well :D

Ok, so I need *4* cards that have *2* 7800 GTX chips each, and i need to plug them into 4 PCI-E slots using SLI2 with *4* dual core Athlon 64s and 8gigs of DDR2 in dual channel (quad channel?)... then maybe... just maybe... I will be satisfied with the power of my system ;)

Yep that should be enough to play Gears of War at decent framerate
& dont forget the 800W PSU!

Meh. NVIDIA should give us SLI with dual monitors and no shenanigans before they worry about 2x 16 lane SLI.

I cant say I disagree with this at all.
Nvidia, needs to give us sli users better drivers! ;)

im kinda noob here, but here goes nothing.
Thats only affecting MB right? u are not gonna need special "SLI2" gf cards aswell are u?

Yes i believe so if thats the only feature the SLI2 will be capable of.
NV should fix the widescreen issue, dual monitor issue first.
SLI = 2 video cards.. .so*2 = 4 video cards? :P Nah I don't think that's what this is.
Man when will it stop

The day ice age shadows this world and the day advancement in technologies stop. The day we are content with our 'WANTS'

Nah . it means that 2 dual GPU cards will be finally able to work with each other ;)

You would need a nuclear reactor to power that thing. 8 GTX chips is gonna be 1200W right off the bat lol.

Wait a MIN. tht SH!T has 1GB DDR3  .
Tht kiks Asus dual 68Ultra's @$$...
Tht one is SIMPLY WOWOWOWOWOW
I think SLi 2 will be more flexible than the current Sli.
They may add SLi'ing a card wid 16 pipes wid a card wid 24 pipes, and none of the cards will hafta come down to the power of the L.C.D.
MEaining 6600GT+6800GT=Sli with 8pipes and 16pipes both working on full potential. neither of them hafta b underclocked.
Yeah SLI2 might carry more features than just 2 16x PCI-E slots. maybe the ability to mix cards with different manufacturers , enhanced AA modes , flexable SLI bridge/dongle design , higher scalability , more compatability ..etc

Too bad its coming in a time so close to next generation GPUs lanuch. i say they should use it as a concept to start a dual GPU G70 when it comes out :D
Who knews, may be tht thing kan kik G70's @$$.
Ok.... a quad sli gigabyte mobo + 4 msi dual gpu 6800's = :jumping:
Those dual gpu cards have sli connectors so it seems plausable.
Who knews, may be tht thing kan kik G70's @$$.
LOL, damnn..thats what I'm thinking.
Anyways, with all that memory...its sure to run everything better @ 300430x232323 res. :p :p :D
That card is simply crazy.
