Bah, I hate steam. I recently reinstalled steam to try out some of the new half life 2 mods that have been released only to find that Half Life 2, HL: Source, and CS: Source have moved them selves from "My Games" to "Recently Released".

I've sent a report to VU, hopefully they can get this worked out quickly. Until then, I cant play Half Life 2 even though I paid for it.

EDIT:
Woops. Could a mod please move this to the source forum.

LOL! Yep :P

I see it now! Im part of a conspiracy! Valve wants to see how many copies of half life 2 they can get people to rebuy without getting caught! :O

Yes and yes. When trying to run it I get the usual "Buy Me!" message.

Hopefully I'll get a reply from VU tomorrow.

Have you tried clicking on the buy me and seeing what happens?
Your best bet is using the steampowered.com customer service thing, rather then the vu method since vu has nothing to do with steam lol, nor hl2 anymore.

lol im not gonna buy the game again. As for steam's support system, it sucks. Reminds me more of a FAQ than anything.

Yeah, check this out, I complained about the surround sound issue way back on the third of January, and guess what? I finally got my response today. Know what the response was? "Please send us another msinfo32 report" (as if something was wrong with the first one, but they didn't say)

Bleh...for what? So I can wait another 5 months for them to tell me to do it again? Valve is a soup sandwich. Heres the response I sent them BTW:

Oh yeah, you wait 5 months later and give me a response only to tell me to do it over again. You guys are really bad as a company, and I am never buying any games that have anything to do with valve software or valves technology ever again.

I agree though, completely.

....hl2 has to be the buggest software installed on my computer. i have never had so many crashes, software lockups, bsods and get this one.... hl2 was somehow able to change my permissions on the system and locked me out of all system functions, i couldnt even shut the damn this down without a hard reset....what a peice of crap

Um i wasnt talking about physically punching your credit card number in again. I was refering to clicking buy and seeing if it updated your client registry blob or not. Not clicking buy and typoing in your credit card number. Also have you tried deleting your client registry blob. As for valves support i was refering to the form, rather then the faq.

Thats got to be a joke. No offense

I know. What I mean is that it starts the process of purchasing the game.

Also have you tried deleting your client registry blob.

Good idea.

As for valves support i was refering to the form, rather then the faq.

It seems to have been taken down. All I can find is the "support" page and the forums.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try deleting the registry blob.

What's up with your HUD? If you can't see your full ammo readout, you may have to delete your save games and start over from the beginning.

That's what I had to do. The updates seem to, at one point, have slightly hosed my copy.

Oh, and to the original poster, you may have to re-install the game to get it to behave. This game is the KING of "Sorry, but your screwed, please reinstall me. Hope to screw you again someday;)"

I sure wish I could just reinstall it. I preodered the game through steam, my only option is to redownload it though steam.

Have you tried looking for the HL2 shortcut under the steam folder? It should be there somewhere...

Nope. Right now I don't have any steam apps installed. Steam acts as if I never purchased it. Still no reply from VU.

I should of bought the DVD version, DoD: Source hasn't been released anyways. :thumbdwn:

I bought my game directly from steam using debit and so far so good. That's an odd problem.
