I only hear this when I play a game for about 20 minutes to 1/2 hour.
I have a 6600gt. My temps are aroun 47degrees Idle and around 69 at full load.
It almost sounds like feedback of some sort. I is just a real faint beep.
Does anyone know what that is?

On my 6800ultra it has a buzzer on it and it suppose to beep if it does not have enough power going to it.Does your 6600GT have a buzzer on it,it could be when playing a intence game it takes more power and the hotter a power supply get the less efficient it is and maybe it is not getting enough power to it,what kind of power supply do you have.

my power supply is 400 watts. I doesnt sound like a warning beep or buzz to me though.

Does it sort of sound like a very quiet sqweel instead of a beep?
if its so faint, how did u first notice it?
maybe it must be some sound made by the app u were using.?

I get it when I play CS or wow. I dont hear it any other time besides playing a game. My temps dont show me overheating, its seated fine. I'm just at a loss to what it is.
I have two HD and a dvdrw and one extra fan and the 6600gt running off my power supply could it be that its not getting enough power? I see no performance loss and I am quite happy with the performance.

maybe your fan is going bad. when it spins really fast, such as when using those games and your really wokring the gpu, the bearing starts to make noise...
