Ok, since it's pre-launch hysteria, why not spice it up even more. :D
In this (http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17424722&page=1&pp=30) thread at ocuk's forums "Gibbo" is asked when the 7800 series will be avail for pre-order and he sounds pretty sure they'll be avail at launch day. (June 21st? ) :)

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/nvidia_PCI_Express.html

"8000-200 Series" :)

Yes models will support SLi and a couple recently scored 22,000 on 3D Mark 2005 stock test I believe.

So if "Gibbo" is correct G70 should be a pretty good chip. :p

I'm not sure who this Gibbo dude is, all i know is that he works at Overclockers UK.

I'll be so conservative about it & say no way!
that means a single 7800GTX will score something like 11-12K while most optimistic rumors suggested 9K.

I call BS.Marketing ploy to sell cards in SLI (Remenber they are at the moment selling a deal of 2x XFX6800 Ultras for £1.174) thats $2136.46 US

um as for amarketing ploy to sell cards in sli, people cant get them until massive amounts of benchies will be available. So that would be the worst marketing ever to sell cards for sli. lol In fact i can guarentee you if thats what it was anyone would be firing the person saying it. So while i doubt its completly true i also doubt its an attempt to sell cards for sli, lol. Since before the cards are available benchies will be

Ok, i'm interested in this tidbit:
from Gibbo
Yes we are under NDA but I can drop little hints here and there and yes we will have ample stock on launch day in our warehouse ready for shipping and collection from BFG, Leadtek and XFX. Well lets at least hope the couriers don't mess up but NV have allocated us stock and our partners have honored our allocation which is plenty

I find this difficult to believed will mean that Nvidia would have cards for sale right from the word go
Now if i remember correctly from my own experience with them, i pre ordered my 6800GT with them, and it took them a month before they where anywhere close to have stocks for the cards (although i may say that this was more the fault of the companies selling the cards than themselves)
We shell see...

I guess I'm more optimistic this time since I don't think either nvidia or ATI would want to go through the fiasco we had last launch. Besides, since Nvidia skipped the refresh cycle, you'd think they would be more than ready for this round. I'm hoping so anyway.

NoWayDude

True.but my surprise comes more from the fact that Europe normaly does not get the refresh cycle products as fast as USA.I hope that they indeed have the cards at launch time, that would surely make a world of diference.
Aniwhay, let me start looking at bank account.New mobo, new GPU, bugger....

Maybe with this kind of performance, I'll upgrade my R9800 to a SLI 2x 7800 GTX

Yes we are under NDAWell, NVIDIA doesn't put retail vendors under NDA. Maybe he has an NDA from his suppliers. Many retail and book stores have strict agreements about release dates.
Were an NV official launch partner!!Bull****. NVIDIA has no retail launch parners; closest thing is OEMs with direct sales (eVGA, BFG). Additionally, this guy should learn proper grammar and punctuation.
NV have allocated us stock and our partners have honored our allocation which is plentyBull****. NVIDIA doesn't allocate stock to retail vendors, OEMS do.
When I spoke to NV this morning they said the new range will not be on AGP!!Well, anyone under NDA who talks this freely will never again sign an NVIDIA NDA. If he spoke with NVIDIA, he spoke with someone you or I could reach.

Color me skeptical. He may be personally mistaken/misled himself, but IMO this guy is blowing smoke up people's asses to aggrandize his store or his position. Sure, he may have product, but he doesn't have a relationship with NVIDIA.

If i recall correctly I read somewhere about nVidias plans this launch to have products available ON THE DAY OF LAUNCH.

I have a strong feeling nvidia will live up to this and there will be an abundance of products available by the end of this month. :D

Nvidia takes its NDA's very seriously. If this guy did break NDA. He probably wont be under NDA again as ricercar said,.

If i recall correctly I read somewhere about nVidias plans this launch to have products available ON THE DAY OF LAUNCH.This was NVIDIA official policy since well before I left the company in 2003, instigated just after the NV30 fiasco and applied to the NV36/38 launches.

There had to be xx,xxx GPUs in the channel before a launch could occur. Thus launchAnnounce-to-retailAvailability is slightly out of NVIDIA's hands, but launch was intended to be restored to a sincere metric of availability.

I wasn't tracking the NV40 launch, but availability was fairly immediate, wasn't it?
