How does the GF4 Ti4200 stack up in performance?

Friend has a low end computer with an ATI 9200SE. Would the Gainward GF4 Ti4200 128MB card perform better?

Thanks!

Well, yes, its a faster card... problem is, that it does not have support for Pixel Shader 1.3, which means Battlefield 2 will not work :(

I still luv those cards, i own an MSI GF4 ti4200/128 and they're great for playing DX8.1 games but lack power when playing some DX9 games.

Geforce4 cards are pixel shader 1.1 cards. They do not support Pixel Shader 1.3

jakup,

Geforce4 Ti supports Pixel Shader 1.3. Geforce3 series only supports Pixel Shader 1.1.

What kind of garage sales do you go to??!! I'd love to pick TI series video cards in a yard sale anytime :D

generally people just sell off Pentium I 200mhz machines with Win. 95 pre-loaded :p but selling individual PC components off?!...now that's 1337!

Whoops, my bad, it was PS1.4 which it does not support... I believe BF2 requires a PS1.4 card...

I have heard the same thing which is a shame because there are still alot of users with the various Geforce4's. Why PS1.4 and not PS1.3 or PS1.1, is BF2 linked to ATI by any chance?

According to EA, it's a TWIMTBP game. Bizarre, I must say.

Maybe a ploy to get people to buy new nvidia cards? heh, who knows.

Just curious, but couldn't one just use the 3DAnalyze program to get around the PS requirement? I have heard that several people were able to get their GF4MXs to work with Prince of Persia: SoT with 3D Analyze.

Supposly you can 3danalyze it, problem is punkbuster kicks you because its considered cheating... (you can see through walls)

it depends on how it affects you actually. 3d analyze can also give you white shaders which makes spotting enemies very easy, so pb blocks that. however, if you don't have the ability to cheat in any way, you can e-mail punkbuster staff 200 times and within 2 years it will be allowed :D

several people were able to get their GF4MXs to work with Prince of Persia: SoT with 3D Analyze. That's fascinating, because the NV17 was not even a true DX8 part. NV17 was missing 2 of the 24 bullet item features required for DX8 compliance. Did this work on GF4 MX (NV17/18) but not GF4 Ti (NV25/28)?
