Hi, just upgraded from a ati 9700 to 6800 gt (along with new mobo/cpu of coz). In some games, I don't get the option of selecting 1280x1024 as resolution anymore. This was no problem with the 9700 except of course that it couldn't handle it :D

This sucks rather bad, as it's the native mode of my LCD monitor and thus 1024 looks like total crap in comparision.

I've installed the latest WHQL and the 77.30 drivers. The games are Need for Speed Underground 2 and the Battlefield 2 demo (both EA games, hmmmmm). Joint Operations and Half-Life 2 works fine.

Any clue what I could try?

install a custom resolution in the driver panel. the option is in there somewhere to add your own res.

Reinstall the proper monitor driver to enable Windows to know what resolutions and refresh rates your monitor supports.

Ahh, there we go. So long since I had any issues with my computer (no real issues since I installed win 2000 when it was released), I've forgotten the skill :(

On the other hand, I don't really miss the times when I had to fight my computer :D

Thanks!

I should add that when I used the proper monitor driver, 75hz mode was disabled and 1280 was still no-go. I had to revert to standard plug 'n' play drivers to make things work. Go Windows!
