6800 Ultra 400(425)/1130 vs 7800 GTX 430/1200
8 Vertex Pipes 8 Vertex Pipes
16 Pixel Pipes 24 Pixel Pipes
PS3.0 PS 3.0 (could have extended features -> totally useless, we don't even utilize PS2.0)

Additional 8 Pipes won't do hell of a lot since 80% of todays games are more depending of CPU and RAM. Basically, 3DMark and benchmarks we don't play are going to have benefits of it, but reflected on the real world gaming won't give us much.

Really, NVIDIA and ATI should switch to 2 years product cycle.

Last night I fired up GTA San Andreas, all maxed AA 4x, AF 8X. The game flies :)

I'm skipping this generation...

You are just talking a load cr@p aren't you. You are just looking at it from the numbers of pipelines. Do you know what changes have been impemented architecturaly .in the quad blocks, vertex shading units or say Intellisample/ROPs?

No..so do not count your chickens b4 they hatch...coz you will look an ass when your doom and gloom is proven wrong.

Can you enlighten us MUYA?!

Dude...no matter what they changed fire up most of the games you're going to have same frames.

Example:

Matrix Online ---> all what matter is CPU and RAM
Half Life 2 --> mostly CPU and RAM
All the games based on UT2004 engine --> CPU and RAM
BF2 --> CPU and RAM.

With 1GB or less you can have "8" 7800GTX cards connected it won't help you anything in BF unless you have fast CPU and a lot of RAM.

What I'm saying is 24 Pipes etc is just wasting of resources...so do 16 pipes card.

And for you information speaking of pipes and internal features I couldn't speak because doesn't matter r520 is going to kill it, but also doesn't matter becase of the reasons I mentioned above.

I guess you haven't seen the other when you posted this. I advise you heed by that warning.

So MUYA is the rumor about gamma corrected and transparency AA true?

That rumour started in anotehr forum and seems pretty reasonable. GCAA has been available in NV4x cards for some time now, albeit thru Rivatuner

GCAA (only with OpenGL) has been ALSO available in NV3x cards for some time now :)

I really dont know what im going to be doing this summer as with my computer, its just that im going to be upgrading to a AMD and SLI but might only trade in my AGP 6800GT for a PCI 6800GT and also might get another if its not to much, thats only if the # of the GTX is not as great as the jump from a 5950 ultra to 6800 ultra.

If you play at 1024x768.

At 1600x1200 w/ 4xAA and 16xAF all modern games are bound by the graphics card. Look at HDR Far Cry and CoR 2.0++, both would benefit greatly from the 24 pipelines.

If I had a nickel for everytime I read that from a member and then saw a new gpu in their sig not a month later.

My modest opinion. Some of you guys should spend your money in a pen*s enlargement surgery instead of spending 500+ bucks in the latest video cards every 6 months. Seriously.

All games look good enough when playing at 1024x768 with some AA and AF. And most of the main stream cards do a good job with games at those settings now.

This is our hobby. Some people spend hundreds maybe even thousands of dollars tricking out their car, whats the difference?

Hey red_star, 6800U has 6 vertex, not 8. memory clock from 7800GTX seems to be 1400mhz (stores that have it for pre-order say so).
Architectural changes aren't made just for features but also for more clock efficiency and thus more performance.

My Wife is also interested in computers, video cards and modding. What surgery would you recommend for her, hmm?

To be honest with ya, ppl who mention peewee enlargement surgeries are usually the ones who need them the most. Not only that, I think you will also need an e-peewee enlargement surgery.
