View Full Version : XP x64 AGP 2x?

I'm using Windows XP x64 RC2 and the forceware betas on nVidia's site. As far as I know the AGP GART driver hasn't been updated for some time :thumbdwn: and I'm getting results as seen in the attached picture:

As you can see all of my agp settings are at 8X for my 6800GT (PNY Verto) except for the OS one. Has anyone else had this problem / have a work around for it? Any word on updated GART drivers for us AGP bretheren?

Or am I freaking out for no apparent reason?

Im pretty sure Windows XP 32 does this too... its not real, its just a glitch. Youre running at 8x.

Yes. For some reason it always shows 2x under the OS column when in AGP mode.

Good to hear that I'm not crazy. I use Linux as my primary OS and (typical of some Linux users) get peeved when a setting / statistic in another OS isn't within my control.

Silly Windows.

Thanks for the quick reply, fellows.

Same here under XP 32. I dunno why, I hope it's a glitch like others said.

Same in Windows 2000 Professional.

The lack of updates for AGP GART drivers is a good sign that PCIe is slated to take over ASAP.

As if linux can play very many games

AGP 8x is done transparantly from OS. So is PCI-E.

Linux does it the same way, it just does not confuse you with OS compatibility and system compatibility.

Basically the AGP 2x means that Windows XP supports up to 2x AGP for GUI.
In other words, AGP is running 2x on desktop and 8x in games. ;)
