Nowaydude, it's PCIe only atm. Unless your mobo supports PCIe, you won't be able to use it.

Er can i say for a fact what will happen? This is exactly what happend when the nv4x series launched. The golden rule in markets and economics is that if you don't learn from mistakes in business moves you are doomed to repeat them. Whether they are yours or others. It's almost a complete clone of what happend with the nv4x launch. The difference between the enthusiast market growing vs the 200* market is millions vs thousands per year. The x800xl was extremly late to the makret. The 9800 pro sells more to this day then the x800xl. The 6800gt will replace the 9800, just based on performance. In the tech business timing is everything, surely ati will stay in the game. But, you have to be in the right spots at the right time. In terms of recouping, even they themselves have projected more losses to come. And its not just nvidia banging away at their market share its intel as well(sadly). They took way to long on the 5xx chipset, even though they constantly tell media outlets its tapped out long long ago. Just based on 1 million people who submitted the hl2 hardware survey you can get a picture of the potential upgraders here (http://www.steampowered.com/status/survey.html). Alot of people are going to be needing upgrades for the lost coast, hdr effects. For games like oblivion. It's all about the faster cards being cheaper. It's just basic economics man.

anyways back on topic

<- wants to see some benchies and the bfg 7800gtx oc card hehe

How does that cause them to "drop the ball"?

What? ATI's best price/performance card is the X800XL. It cost under $300 and is easily as fast as the 6800GT. The 9800 pro isn't even being produced any more. o.O

It matters a lot. The enthusiast market is growing, not shrinking. Also, the X800XL already cost less than the GT so once the price drops the two cards should be even.

It's far to early to say that ATI has dropped the ball. One thing is for sure, ATI needs to get something out to steal the fire from the 7800GTX. Every day its on the market without competition ATI loses money.

They are already loosing money. 80 mio in revenue from last to this quater already and that has nothing to do with G70 but with GF6xxx beeing the better product lineup.

Like alot of fanboys here, you are getting way ahead of yourself, and need to get grounded (i.e. SolidSnake). You are making assumptions on market share when neither nVidia or ATi have released their newer cards. The G70 is not the NV40, and the R520 is not the R420.

Who were you expecting to find at an NVIDIA fansite? I think he is making some reasonable assumptions based on economic principles. If its not what you want to hear then put him on your ignore list and move on.

I'm not a fanboy. I have many ati cards here. All I am doing is stating based on economics the scenerio ati is now facing. Previous to my 6800gt i owned a 9700 pro. I go where the best price/performance is. My heart will always be with 3d fx. I was a fanboy for that company, lol. So i should hate nvidia, dearly. In reality if I'm a fanboy of any company its the old sgi, which founders basically now run ATI and Nvidia. And nvidia has now released their cards. It's not a paper launch, the cards are in stock even at my local best buy. 3d Performance in cards is how i make my living. It isn't about one company its for whoever can give the extra performance at a cheaper cost.

I didn't mean to single you out I was referring to his statement "like alot of fanboys here". I was pointing out to him that we are an fansite. There is nothing wrong with being a fanboy. We are all fanboys at some point in our lives be it to graphics cards, sports teams or cars etc.etc.. I am an NVIDIA fanboy hence owning an NVIDIA fansite. :D Doesn't mean I would lie, steal or cheat for NVIDIA. We tell the truth about NVIDIA and ATI here. :afro2:

haha mike i was replying to his comment not yours. But yes i agree Since 3dfx died Ive owned all nvidia cards for my gaming, outside of the 9700 pro. Work wise its always nvidia. The one thing you have to love about nvidia is they don't nerf their cards so developers have to buy the $1000 versions(for their home work), like ati did to me on the 9700 series. Running 3ds max on that thing was an evil experiance. This way I don't have to pay 1 grand just to do work at home.

I always run NVIDIA in my machine. I had an X800 when it first came out to review, but soon passed it on to run of my other guys. Just did not feel right not having NVIDIA in my machine.

Also all 5 of my machine are nForce based so I guess I still would of had some NVIDIA, but I like all NVIDIA.

Why all the gushy goo goo remarks towards NVIDIA now? Hell, your forums are sponsored by BFG! I'll just chalk this up to one of the many things in life that make very little sense.
